Reporting an abusive PM received on Mumsnet - anyone?

User260623x · 26/06/2023 09:09

Has anyone done this?
I see there is an option to 'report' a message received.

I've had a nasty message from a poster on part of MN who's posts to me were abusive and deleted by MN.
She has now PMd with more.

If MNHQ see the reported PM does that mean they can also access all my other PMs? (as I sometimes have friendly chats with other posters that contain some semi-confidential info.)

I’d suggest posting on site stuff, or contacting them directly to ask at

[email protected]

Thanks

Take a screenshot as well. The sender can delete screenshots.

I find MNHQ a bit rubbish with this sort of thing. I had to report a PM a couple of times, eventually got a response saying the poster is banned and all messages have been deleted.. not one in my inbox though :S. Who knows. I would just ignore them.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 26/06/2023 09:58

The sender can delete their messages, not the screenshots, obvs. Sorry!

Wehaveawinner · 26/06/2023 10:12

Mn can see your messages anyway. If you don't want that, perhaps you can chat outside of mn. They'll see your reports and delete them. You can also delete the messages yourself.

Wehaveawinner · 26/06/2023 10:15

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across abrupt; I was thinking in one-liners.

WonderfulUsername · 26/06/2023 10:18

I mean MN own the site so I’d assume they can all our messages anyway 🤷‍♀️

Post her evil DMs here. Put her on blast. If she's OK with sending them to you then I'm sure she won't mind us all seeing them.

Yes, they can.

I once logged into MN using my own details and found myself in someone else’s account. I could’ve read all through their messages if I’d have wanted to but obviously I logged straight out and reported.

So I’d never put anything personal in a PM if I were you OP.

Thanks. I had assumed that and I am usually mindful but there has been some occasional stuff that I've shared.

Seriously, anything you post here, belongs to mn.

I would share the screenshot here (usernames redacted)

Haven’t had any experience with this but yes definitely report this @User260623x. Nobody should have to put up with abuse whether that he in person or online.
