Washing machine smells like a swamp

I thought I'd clean the washing machine machine today. I ran a hot cycle with a bottle of dettol antibacterial washing machine cleaner.

Then I scrubbed the seal and the detergent drawer, as well as the filter.

The filter was actually clogged up so some water (as well as an earring and some rocks collected by DC...) came out which I cleaned up.

The inside of the washing machine now smells horrendous, like a swamp! It didn't smell before. So what do I do now? I'm upstairs now and feel like I can smell it from here...

When mine smelled like that it was a sock that was caught in the draining tube before the filter.

Ooh interesting. Maybe you've dislodged something?

I'd do another wash as hot as you can with the machine empty. Maybe some bicarb in the drawer and drum.

@Gingerkittykat unfortunately removing the filter is as far as my technical abilities go. If it persists I may need to get the professionals in.

I forgot to say @WeedSmellDramas I then proceeded to do an additional empty hot wash (in case there were little particles left from my scrubbing).

It still smells horrendous, I am so confused...

I think I'll try a bicarb wash tomorrow. Or maybe another dettol antibacterial bottle? It does say on it you might need to do it twice if it's not been done for a while. Maybe the first one dislodged stuff and it needs a second?

Try it with a spot of bleach in the detergent tray and a blob of bleach in the drum. Run at 60 or preferably hotter.
