Nice place for graduation lunch in Newcastle

DSD is graduating in a couple of weeks from Newcastle Uni. The ceremony is in the morning and we need to choose somewhere nice for lunch afterwards.

We'll have me, DP, DSD, two aunts (one vegetarian/pescatarian, tends towards whole foods eg veggie shepherd's pie rather than modern/fusion-y), one granny who is nearly blind and isn't a good walker, so we need somewhere that is relatively light and not so tightly packed an old lady with a stick would find it hard to get through. None of the rest of us are vegetarian and DP in particular is a real foodie.

Can anyone local recommend somewhere good that might fit this combination of requirements? Obviously as graduation celebration lunch we are looking for somewhere a bit special. If it comes to a hierarchy of needs, elderly-granny-accessibility comes first. Thank you!

That looks nice - thank you. All options have to be run past DSD, of course, but that looks as if her granny would love it and the veggie options look good.

Blackfriars restaurant . Beautiful setting and outdoor tables if the weather is good .

The Vermont Hotel next to the castle has a new lovely light rooftop terrace with great views. Six at The Baltic is also a nice bright space and upmarket enough for a graduation x

I went to a similar event for a family member at 21 and it was enjoyed across the generations. We had a vegan, a dairy allergy and a grandmother in a wheelchair and all was handled well.

Caveat of was several years ago and pre-Covid.

These all look great options - thank you. Am collating a list of links for DSD in case there's one she loves, then will run them by the veggie aunty.

21 is the winner - thank you all for your help. Very much appreciated.
