Weird things that went around your school?

Did anyone else have these?

In my primary school it was known that if you pressed hard enough behind someone’s ear it would collapse their whole skeleton and they would die. I believed it and was terrified of it accidentally happening for years!

There was also a rumour in my high school that one of the art teachers was shagging one of the (married) geography teachers. Nothing ever came of it but years later when my younger sister was at the same school it turned out to be true!

That the Chelsea Smilers were waiting for us after school.

This rumour would go around every few months and how we all thought it were true, each time, ridiculous really!

Definitely very weird and specific rumours about teachers. Two of our male teachers were seen snogging outside a Pizza Hut apparently.
And then all the weird rumours about famous people which every school had despite being pre-internet.
Adam Ant going blind because of his white stripe of make-up.
Mark Almond having to have his stomach pumped because he'd swallowed litres of semen.
Play a Kylie Minogue song backwards and there were secret messages from the devil.
Richard Gere and gerbils.
How did these get around?

Middle school - art teacher and geography teacher were also having it off, in the stationary cupboard of the geography teacher's classroom.

Also middle school - the DT teacher was a perve and had mirrors under the desks to look up girls skirts.

High school - the DT teacher was a perve (although no mention of mirrors under desks)

No evidence of any of the above, I feel sorry for the poor DT teachers who were most likely just nice normal men.

Oh god so many ridiculous things 😂 (one of which actually turned out to be true…so I’ll let you guess which one).

• The rumour about the girl who thought crisp packets as condoms were effective contraception
• The eccentric art teacher who apparently kept a huge carving knife in his desk draw
• The mythical “secret room” hidden somewhere in the walls of the glass-topped tunnel between the maths and history block.
• The food tech teacher who always seemed quick to upset had near vodka in the sports bottle she constantly sipped from.
• The PE teacher who was apparently in a throuple with another PE teacher and his wife

Some very much the product of bored, teenage imaginations. One turned out to be very true 🤯😂

This is the most private school thing ever. 😂

That the school riding instructor, who was quite butch in mannerisms and appearance, and single, so we all assumed she was a lesbian, was shagging the PE teacher’s husband. It was a boarding school so both teachers were house parents who lived in the halls.

PE teacher, who was vile actually, left and moved out end of the year and that was the end of the rumour. Except that the riding instructor, who was really lovely, a year or two later, moved away and married the PE teacher’s (ex) husband. They’ve been married over 20 years now and seem very happy by all accounts.

Teen pregnancy it was rife in the year 10 and 11 students with one rumour of a girl stating she got pregnant because everyone else did.
some really disheartening rumours about the science teacher getting upset as she was struggling to conceive and we had quite the epidemic of teens getting pregnant at the drop of a hat.
the it teacher was a pervert, to be fair it was the geography one that you need to watch.
feeling bad for the it teacher who they called a perv because his daughter was disabled, there was a lot of rumours about him( kids are mean)
the English teacher and sociology teacher getting together(they did get engaged and some one strided him in front of her)
the re teacher being a perv(later a convinced paedo)

We must have been at school in the same area as this was the rumour at my school too!!! 😬

This made me laugh so much! We were also terrified of these mythical hooligans on the lookout for 13 yr olds to batter

Funnily enough, at Marc Almond's school whilst he was there, the rumour was about Rod Stewart!!!

We had a holographic stickers phase(1980s ish) and a boy had stolen a load from the local shop. I had some (through genuine means) but was told anyone that had them would be arrested because of this boy stealing them. This went on for a long time and I was terrified of having one and would refuse someone giving me any else I'd be arrested and sent to prison and never see my parents again 😞. Most people were terrified of these stickers

A kid who kept chickens climbed over a fence at his home and ripped his scrotum open, one of his balls fell out and a chicken ate it.

Many more but this one stands out as the most ridiculous.

That first years at our secondary school were routinely pushed into the school pond by older bullies.

Everyone knew this happened, it was the most reliable bit of ‘information’ shared before you started the school.

I never saw a single person pushed into the pond - or anyone trying to achieve this - in the 7 years I was there.

The one about the bloke who accidentally ingested too much acid and now thought he was a can of coke. Apparently he wore a baseball cap all the time - it couldn't be removed because he thought it was his ring pull

There was one girl who pretended to faint when we were queuing up for it but she was quite dramatic anyway!
