Itchy rash on face

I've got this irritating itchy rash om my face. Tried to take a photo but you can't really see it. It's red and blotchy and hot. I've taken antihistamines, I've got some cream from chemist but that made my face feel like it was burning. I don't think it's heat rash.

Any ideas what it could be and what I can do about it.

Prickly heat rash.

cheeseisthebest · 25/06/2023 13:33

I don't think so cos isn't that bumpy? This is just red and itchy and quite dry.

Heat rash isn't always bumpy.

Have you been using SPF?

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 25/06/2023 13:47

Yes, could it be sunburn?

1% cortisone cream is good for sunburn, use it sparingly. You can get it over the counter as an insect bite/sting cream. Takes down the inflamation and soothes the itch.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/06/2023 13:49

I was thinking more a reaction to the SPF,they all do that to me.

cheeseisthebest · 25/06/2023 14:53

So I've tried a few things including cortisone cream and they all seem to make my face feel like it's burning.
I might try and get a hypo allergenic suncream for my face.

Personally I find my heat rash is best if I don't put anything on it and just use a fan or damp towel to keep my skin as cool as possible. I know various creams etc. are recommended online but they've always made me feel even worse.

cheeseisthebest · 25/06/2023 20:57

I think it's eczema, it's spreading to my eyelids now. Never had eczema before.

The damp towel/ cold water works for me too .. I got diagnosed with PLME but it’s just my face so not sure tried everything and nothing works better than the cold water.

Have you got some aveeno?

Put that on every couple of hours

In between, hold a cold wet facecloth to it (keep it in the fridge)

Keep taking the antihistamines and also ibuprofen if you can

Sounds more allergic from the speed but if it's hot and itchy, it will be drying out your skin making it itchier

cheeseisthebest · 28/06/2023 17:30

Thank you I got some aveeno, it's much better now I think was a reaction to suncream.

Oh good 😊

I try creams on my inner arm before my face now.... learnt the hard way!
