Help me make a playlist for my 5 year old girl

DD is 5 and has started to want to listen to ‘big girl songs’ as she calls them, basically trying to move on from Disney and nursery rhyme/childrens songs like banana banana meatball etc
So I’m trying to make a playlist for her of some good old girly cheesy pop that I think she’ll enjoy, and was looking for some extra input

So far I have:
Aqua - Barbie girl
Dance monkey (don’t know who sings this but she already knows this and loves it)
Spice Girls - Wannabe
Katy Perry - Roar
Meghan Trainor - Mother (again already knew this one)
Taylor Swift - Shake it off
…and that’s as far as I’ve got!

Anyone got any gems? I know I’m missing a whole world of girl groups…

Katy Perry - Firework

Little Mix- Butterfly

Taylor - Love Story, You Belong With Me

Jackson 5- ABC

Abba- Dancing Queen

Gangnam Style

Meghan Trainor - All About That Base

Look up the Pop Party CDs. They have songs like Oops I did it Again (Britney) , Baby (Justin Bieber) which will act as inspiration

My DD's favourite Spice Girl was Stop. Really easy to learn dance for the chorus (check the music video)

When dd started listening to big girl music she loved Belinda Carlisle and Mel C. McFly were quite popular, too.

Still for children but very fun: all kid’s albums by They might be giants.

YouFilthyAnimal · 25/06/2023 21:20

Ah thank you so much for all these suggestions! I clearly had a total mind blank yesterday, how could I forget some of these?!
Me and DD had a fabulous dance and singalong in the car today, I’m not sure who was more into it tbh 😁

And omg @FatherJoseFernandez Deeply Dippy just took me right back and unlocked childhood memories I’d forgotten even existed! Thank you 😊

Can you not just put the radio on?

DyslexiaNightmare · 25/06/2023 22:45

Has your DD never listened to regular music before? My son is 4 and even just from listening to me play music he's developed a taste for groove armada/Leftfield/fela kuti/whatever takes his fancy (not expecting everyone to know who they are as we all have different tastes but, you get the gist, it's a mix!). He's had his own taste since he was quite little. I wouldn't limit to stuff like Barbie Girl and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun etc, and would mix it up a bit. There's so much incredible rich music out there that she will probably enjoy. Just listen to music together and ask her to tell you when she 'wants something on her playlist' (this is what we do!).

BoohooWoohoo · 26/06/2023 17:31

Alicia Keys- Girl on Fire
S Club 7
Steps
Rihanna- Umbrella, Diamonds
Selena Gomez - Who Says
Sia- Chandelier, Titanium
