What is going on with me? Is this peri-menopause??

For the past week my breasts (particularly around the areola) have been SO painful, to the point I can lie on my stomach and can't take off my bra because the friction of my clothes hurts too much. I am definitely not pregnant, not started any new birth control and not due on. How worried should I be about this? (obviously main worry is breast cancer- no family history though/no lumps and it started in both breasts at the same time).

I am on nexplanon and I haven't had a proper period in two years, I am starting to wonder if this could be menopause related as I have had some other weird changes in the last year (hair thinning both on my head and in...other areas, along with being constantly sweaty and so emotionally unpredictable I don't recognise myself and nightly vivid dreams/brain fog).

I'm only 36 though, surely it can't happen this early? Sad

Thoughts/opinions/reassurance would be welcome - I really don't want to go to the GP wrt to the breast pain if there's a chance it will just go away.

This sounds similar to PCOS symptoms also.
It's definitely worth speaking to your GP and requesting a referral to look into what's causing these hormone changes.

Wouldn't 36 and post-children be a bit late in life to develop PCOS? I am probably wrong but I thought you were usually younger when getting diagnosed? I never had fertility problems etc and a recent scan for an unrelated issue saw no issues with my ovaries. It's mainly the nipples that are causing the most issues they are so painful I could cry!
