Earlier today I mentioned to someone that a recent event had 'Really knocked my duck off' Cue totally blank expression and bewildered response.
I don't live in the area where I grew up but I think this expression is pretty common there. What local expressions do you use that people are flummoxed by, and if anyone knows where 'knocked my duck off' originates I'd love to know!
Incidentally it means that something happened that really upset you, lowered your mood or spoilt your day.
