This may be the most boring thing you read today - lime related ...

I know, I know could this be any more boring but I have a lime question.

Is there a decent alternative to fresh limes for cocktails so that I don't have to buy and juice 500 limes later today. My own favourite requires limes so I refuse to do a lime free alternative! 🍸

Oh interesting, I think I may be making the same cocktails 🍸 as you later! I think there is a pre-made lime juice in the same style as lemon juice. It might be dehydrated and later rehydrated as it needs to be kept chilled. I think it's alright as an alternative but nothing, in my opinion, beats fresh limes because of the oils extracted from the skin alongside the juice.

M&S do bottles of lime juice. You'll find them in the Baking isle.

Buy a bottle of lime juice?

Second the M&S version with maybe half a dozen fresh limes added in.

Rose's Lime Cordial?

Get a lime press https://www.nisbets.co.uk/hand-juicer-lime/dp123

Here's an important piece of life advice:

If you are going to the trouble of making yourself a cocktail, you should ALWAY make it properly with fresh juice/fresh ingredients. It isn't actually that much more effort - given you are already mixing and measuring and likely shaking/stiring over ice but the improvement in the quality of the drink is exponential.

Sure you can find bottled lime juice but why would you. If you are doing that, you may as well just buy bottled cocktails.

prime example of where a bit of effort = a hugely better result

Margaritas or Mojitos?
Or something else?

WillowtreeHouse · 24/06/2023 13:05

Thank you! I'm going to m & s later so that'll be the very thing.

@SirQuintusAureliusMaximus while I absolutely agree that fresh limes are a million times better I'm afraid after the first two, folk will be getting my budget/easy version! I've over 20 folk coming so it's just too many.
