Holiday help please

Can anyone recommend a resort or specific region to have a look for holidays please?
criteria:

No more than 3 hour flight from London
Good for children age 6 and 8
Warm and dry weather in October or not too hot in August
Beaches
Walking distance from a nice town with shops and restaurants and a bit of culture.

When I say town I’m also envisioning a nice market where you can pick up nice bits and souvenirs. Just some nice interesting places to walk to - when we went to Spain you couldn’t walk anywhere, you had to get a can and then there was just a big shopping centre.
