Replacing chest of drawers with Ikea Kallax unit?

We may need to get rid of DDs chest of drawers so we can fit in a vivarium, which we are thinking will go on top of 2x4 kallax unit.

Does anyone use Kallax units for clothes? Do you use the big Duma boxes? I'm concerned they'll be too deep and impractical? Would splitting with extra shelves and then some kind of tray (does ikea make them to fit?) work better for things like socks?

She's not the tidiest / most organised so I worry what would happen if she wants the bottom item from a deep box. Or would doors work better?

Disorganised son here and I would never get for clothes storage unless you want clothes all over the floor

How old is she?

Clothes everywhere is what I'm worried about.

She's 18. But not one of your high flying off to uni totally independent 18yos.

Imo they're totally impractical for almost everything. The only useful purpose in this house is big books storage.
I wouldn't put clothes in them. You can get drawer inserts - like two drawers in one hole, but this reduces the usable space so much.

Yes the proper drawers really do shrink size available.

I think we'll have to keep the 30yo chest of drawers and get rid of the 45yo cube storage units that I had as a child that I am emotionally attached to. Sad

I think they are great! I have loads of them! The big boxes are great for larger things and you can buy drawer inserts for smaller things and cupboard doors as well.
Light weight and easy to move about too.
