I just had my car (mid teens) fully serviced and front brake discs and pads replaced.

Guess how much it cost me?

Winnerturkeydinner · 23/06/2023 21:11

£200? Was it a dealership or a local garage. That's makes a huge difference

TomatoSandwiches · 23/06/2023 21:12

£1150

IhateJan22 · 23/06/2023 21:12

£400?

KatnissNeverdone · 23/06/2023 21:12

£500. No matter what I go to the garage for it ends up costing £500.

WeAreTheHeroes · 23/06/2023 21:13

Depends on the car and the service plan. My guess is you're going to say £0 or a low figure.

ditalini · 23/06/2023 21:14

I reckon £150 for the service so maybe £200 all in and you're jumping around like it's Christmas?

I hate getting my old car serviced even though she's a game old lady who's served us well, but I've had a few surprise years where there was basically nothing wrong - felt amazing

Bluebells1970 · 23/06/2023 21:18

£1300.

Redebs · 23/06/2023 22:09

It was a bit less than £300, which I think is brilliant for filters, sparks, oil and everything. Also did a check on an engine squeak and tightened an exhaust shield. The brake issue needed diagnosis first, because I thought it was a steering issue. Discs were corroded, so replacements fitted. Car now running smoothly.

I came home and Googled cost of brakes alone at over £250.

Great garage. I've used them for years. One time, years ago, he took it in for a mystery fault which had caused me to be transported home by a recovery truck. It turned out to be a fuel valve or sensor. Because it would have been an expensive replacement part, he cleaned it instead and said to give it a go. It's been fine ever since. He didn't charge me anything for sorting that.

Anyone else get brilliant garage service?

Result op!

I completely trust my small local garage. It's such a relief to know they won't overcharge or do work that isn't needed. Worth their weight in gold.
