Anyone watching? I thought I’d make a thread we can drop in and out of to chat about what’s on.

Texas are playing right now. What an absolute bloody delight to see Sharleen Spiteri, looking exactly like herself at 55, giving it all. Her voice is still amazing. Rock on!

Ghosts, because we are here .
Plus Rick or Macca might show up too

PurplePositivity · 24/06/2023 21:57

Not even Sweet Child O’Mine or Paradise City?
im a GnR fan.
But I thought most people knew those ones, even if just from cheesy clubs!!

Me too!

I have a tiny bit of a soft spot for Welcome To The Jungle. My first boyfriend had the album and the opening chords used to make our dog go bananas!

So it always reminds me of the pup. He was a lovely lovely dog.

the80sweregreat · 24/06/2023 21:58

Oh yes, if course those ones too
They have been around years

Anyone watching Jacob Collier. Very quirky and upbeat. He’s a great musician.

It was brilliant when he got everyone singing.

Yes, we watched, he was fabulous and that harmonised duet with the crowd with the Queen song “‘Somebody to Love’ was great!

froomeonthebroom · 24/06/2023 22:00

I'm so relieved GNR are good! Was very worried Axl wouldn't turn up or something. The poster who said they all must be deaf......I went to a gnr tribute a few weeks back and couldn't hear for three days! Can't imagine what it must be like playing all day every day.

arghtriffid · 24/06/2023 22:00

Not sure why, I love them more now than then? Probably the wine...

smurfmonkey · 24/06/2023 22:00

I love GnR, but Axl's vocals just aren't the same now. I've seen them twice in the past few years but I wish 17 year old me was back watching them at Wembley in 1992. Even though I got covered in piss from a flying bottle...

arghtriffid · 24/06/2023 22:01

I thought Axl was Elon Musk for a moment.

smurfmonkey · 24/06/2023 22:01

Oh and yes, Slash is still God... Although Duff is now my favourite, he has aged very well!

the80sweregreat · 24/06/2023 22:02

I'm sure they must have hearing problems the years of playing music that loud even with plugs in.
I Sound like my mum now !
They can afford private , so it's fine

Allmyghosts · 24/06/2023 22:02

Did they do a velvet revolver cover? I only caught the very end

smurfmonkey · 24/06/2023 22:02

Yes they just played Sliver

NooNakedJacuzziness · 24/06/2023 22:03

Can't get enough of that wonderful Duff Grin

arghtriffid · 24/06/2023 22:03

Yeh Axl's voice is unrecognizable to how he used to be - boy he was good.

But considering they all should probably be dead (!) it’s bloody great they’re still touring! (Even if his voice is not what it once was) His energy is phenomenal.
Loving it!

the80sweregreat · 24/06/2023 22:04

Axel is 61
Despite the possibility of hearing loss, he isn't looking too bad!

smurfmonkey · 24/06/2023 22:05

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong I still jump about like a twat to them now. Musically they're bloody tight!

I find them more listenable without the nails down a blackboard screeching

arghtriffid · 24/06/2023 22:06

Probably the best headliner for a while.

Goldensparrow · 24/06/2023 22:06

Leftfield are doing ace. Would love to be there having a boogie in the crowd

Ha, yeah. I’ve just had to shit my windows and curtains - to protect the neighbours, and my dignity!!
