*sigh* another birthday forgotten but screw it

Happy birthday to me! Lovely day had. Only downside is my MIL forgot, again. She has never remembered (20 years now, yip!) yet she sends me texts to remind me of my in-laws (her children) and their spouses birthdays ALL THE TIME. Have successfully ignored this, and her passive aggressive remarks about my weight (I'm not overweight, I am average, she's got the image problem) for 20 whole years now! My husband and my own family make my birthday into a lovely celebration, it's just a shame this issue always casts a shadow over it. Ah well!!! Here's to 20 years of "stealing her favorite child", a big FU to her and happy birthday to meeeee! 😊

This is only an issue if you let it be, there is no shadow to cast, she’s not even your mother!

Happy Birthday OP, stop focusing on the downside to things, it’s a none issue!

Happy birthday OP! 🎂

Happy birthday.
Why do you care if your MIL remembers?

I suspect there are other issues.

I agree with PP- she’s not going to change, focus on all the positives of the day.
However, I’d want to have some fun too….

MIL: ‘Don’t forget niece Chloe’s birthday on the 12th

BI4H: ‘Ah, thank you! It’s so useful that you keep track of everyone’s birthdays! Shall we add mine to your list? It’s on June 22 ‘

😄

Just forward any such texts to dh. Stop doing the wife work. And forget her birthday...

My MIL doesn't have much time for me but I work on the basis that I'd have to have respect for you to care what you think of me. Her option means nothing.

Happy Birthday 🎈
