What to do in the eves ?

Married, 2 teen DC. I'm 50. I'm bored in the eves. DH goes out 3 times a week to play snooker. I don't want to go with him (boring). I don't know what I want to do in the eves I know it's not walking or gym and I don't do/don't want to do reading/knitting/gardening/sewing/art/evening classes.
All I do in the eves is clean/tidy/sort the house after teen DC & DH. Friends are all tired from work in the week and don't want to go out. I need some excitement, something, anything. It's still light until 9ish but I am bored beyond belief. Teens do their own things online with friends.
What to do ?

See friends?

JeandeServiette · 22/06/2023 12:37

Anything at all. Something entirely new. What do you fancy spending your time on?

Sounds like you're in a rut.

thebigcheeselover · 22/06/2023 12:40

@JeandeServiette I am totally in a rut. Trouble is I don't know what I want to do. I have a pampering night once a week - nails/wax etc. I get bored & restless very easily. I don't watch TV. I like to be on the go all the time.
@MissingMoominMamma my friends are all too tired from working in the week and they just want to collapse in bed when they get home and have sorted their own DC out, dinners etc

If the DC. are now teens, you have new possibilities. Take up a sport or an activity. Build a beehive. Anything that takes your fancy.

If you can't sit still, can't meet friends and don't want to do an evening class why not go for a walk? From spring time to late autumn I try and have a nice walk each evening. It really clears my head and relaxes me before bed. Love being out in nature.

volunteer for local scouts group - that’s on the go every week eg crafting, making fires etc
set yourself a challenge 10 minutes to find something beautiful in the garden to take a picture of and then each month select the best one and create a calendar for the next year

learn a language or an instrument
go swimming
Join a drama group

bonfirebash · 22/06/2023 13:05

Wild swimming? I've just started it and everyone is so friendly
It's a mix of swim, paddle, sit and take photos, cake and coffee afterward and a good chat

Start a business. Something you can do in a couple of hours a day eg an Etsy or eBay store.

Or get a PS5 and play Hogwarts Legacy Grin

There are organisations,of which ‘meet up’is one I think. They provide the opportunity for people to meet up for social activities such as going out for drinks in a group for friendship rather than dating. Sorry I’ve got no experience of them though.

LegendsBeyond · 22/06/2023 15:08

Swimming, tennis, badminton, reading, dance class, learn a language, baking. There’s so much to do. It just depends what you’re interested in. What are you passionate about?

007DoubleOSeven · 22/06/2023 15:10

Volunteer

SkaneTos · 22/06/2023 15:12

Genealogy, perhaps? Fun and interesting.

Learn a new language. Doesn't have to be a class, could be on the phone or on the computer.

Crumbcatcher · 22/06/2023 15:16

Evening job? I'd enjoy working in a local cafe bar in the summer evenings.

MammaTo · 22/06/2023 15:48

Upcycling, gym/health club, walking club?

Rummikub · 22/06/2023 15:53

I’ve done meet up before. It was alright tbf. There’s cinema groups and walking groups. I quite like meeting new people.

Volunteering? Do-it website will show you what’s in your area.

an evening class? Do you work in the day? Do a day class?

A part time evening job?
