If people can identify as cats…(lighthearted)

…. Do we need a whole new range of words?

I was reading an article about people identifying as cats (as a cat-lover I thoroughly approve) and the article quoted an lgbt spokesperson and I thought “ahhh I wonder if they are actually a spokescat”

What an awesome word. And that got me thinking … what other words do we “need”?

I think it already exists: idiots. We definitely don't 'need' more of this bullshit.

CeriB82 · 22/06/2023 06:42

Where do these “cats” shit? Litter tray in the porch?

wheresmymojo · 22/06/2023 06:43

If one identifies as a cat does that mean you can seek adoption and spend your days lazing around in the sun coming through the window?

Because if the answer is yes, sign me up!

HelpMeGetThrough · 22/06/2023 06:44

So if people are identifying as animals now, this LGBT spokesperson represents Lions Gerbils, Bats and Tortoises?

wheresmymojo · 22/06/2023 06:44

Could you be a spokescat though?

Wouldn't you just be miaowing?

Alargeoneplease89 · 22/06/2023 06:44

As a PP said idiots is already a word. I don't understand why these "animals" are at school? Surely it means I can now sign my cat up to the local primary school- which would be great because he's an indoor cat and he doesn't leave me alone.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 22/06/2023 06:45

Would we leave them at kennels or with a cat sitter while we are gone on holiday? Do they need a pet passport?

Probationnotontarget · 22/06/2023 06:46

Can you have them put to sleep?

Seeleyboo · 22/06/2023 06:47

I identify as a pensioner. Can I demand my state pension now. I'm 50

BestServedChilled · 22/06/2023 20:40

@wheresmymojo exactly! Sign me up too. I agree there may be a problem with talking cats, although my cat was always pretty clear on what she thought she never got quite as far as actually talking.

So maybe a spokescat isn’t a thing. That makes me sad.

OP posts:
BestServedChilled · 22/06/2023 20:42

@Seeleyboo I hear you. It’s intrinsically dangerous to allow people to identify as whatever they want. If I identify as a 13 year old can I demand to return to free education? Can I get a birth certificate with my new date on it?

The ramifications of validating self-ID confounds me.

@Probationnotontarget 😩 no to cat euthanasia! ps hope your probation is back on track,

I identify as the multi millionaire owner of an island in the Seychelles. Why won’t the NHS give me affirmative treatment? 😪

Catsmere · 23/06/2023 06:52

How dare mere apes humans aspire to identify as their ofurlords? As the late great PTerry said, “In ancient times, cats were worshipped as gods. They have not forgotten this.”

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 23/06/2023 07:24

Sorry OP, but I'm not ready for a lighthearted thread on this. The chaos that kids who've decided to self-ID as cats in local schools is really disturbing.

Using their cat status as an excuse to intimidate and attack other children seems to be the goal. I'm sick to the back teeth of all this nonsense in schools and wish someone would make a stand to shut it all down. Whatever happened to going to school to learn?

LlynTegid · 23/06/2023 07:25

Never mind animals, I'm sure many of the 48% would wish to identify as from an EU country to get a passport from there.

Well said 👏

Being a furry was a thing when my sister was at school 10 years ago so nothing new. Just been heightened due to people being allowed to self ID as anything they want
