My DF knew him. A thoroughly unpleasant man in his view.

...And going back further - I wasn't there, but they sound like legends -

Tallulah Bankhead (actual security files have now come out of the vaults on her, mainly for repeatedly Getting On Very Well With a sizeable group of top public school future establishment gentlemen); namesake of the Tallulah Bugsy Malone character.

Katherine Dunham. History maker for development of non-western dance histories. Entertainment name in a backdrop where non-white artists could play the Cotton Club every night but still be barred from staying in lodgings anywhere near it. Dancer, yes. More than 12 honorary doctorates by the end of her days, also yes.
What a woman.

I’ll never forget watching somebody’s YouTube Vlog, this was a teacher, and she was talking about how the textbooks were so old they were still talking about Michelle Quan… I was a big figure skating fan, I loved Michelle Kwan, Tara Lapinski, Oksana Baiul, Kurt Browning and so on. I also loved gymnastics, and in the 90s you had Shannon Miller, Dominique Dawes Lilia Podkopeva, Dominique Moceanu, Lavinia Milosevich, Gina Goorjian and so many others.

sorry, I am visually impaired and using dictation so it’s not going to get some of the more difficult name is correct, but if you’re a big gymnastics or skating fan, I’m sure you know who I mean.
