Just because some artists are still going, doesn't mean young people would have heard off them. Like I wouldn't have heard off a lot off music artists, reality stars etc from today.

Not from growing up but I was shocked my Niece hadn't heard off Will Young when I was off to see him in concert, then realised she was one when he won pop idol!

I find young kids don't know who David Beckham is.

These would make for some good quiz questions. So many of these names sound familiar, but if you gave me a 5 minute countdown I couldn’t say who they are.

I'm struck that some of these names were in their heyday before I was born but I've still heard of them and seen their work. (Eg Dick Emery was really before my time for example but still a familiar cultural reference when I was growing up.) We're listing people on here that are probably similarly out of date and assuming young people haven't heard of them, and I think they probably haven't. Is it because more people are famous for less now, and therefore their fame is more transitory?
