This may be a thread for those of us of "ahem" a certain age, but is anybody else disappointed by the future that was promised to us in the 1970s?
All agog, we watched Raymond Baxter on Tomorrow's World promising us that by the year 2000 (unimaginably far into in the future), we'd be wearing silver space suits (flattering and non iron), driving floating cars and only having to work 2 days a week. We would also be able to imbibe all necessary proteins, vitamins and amino acids in one easy tablet per day.
So how come I still have to wash, shop, cook, drive, buy clothes and think about food? (Though I haven't ironed anything since the last wedding I went to in 2014).
I'm feeling hard done by. Anybody else?
