What do you wear on flight to sunny destination?

Sun dress/sandals type outfit? Or leggings with runners/pumps type of vibe! Will be arriving to the sun for around 11am but leaving Ireland at 3am. Also the plane can be quite chilly!

I wear crop jeans, tshirt, cardigan and easy to slip off pumps/trainers

userxx · 21/06/2023 16:06

Wide leg trousers with either pumps or sandals. Pashmina in a handbag.

Maddy70 · 21/06/2023 16:07

I always wear a maxi dress so my legs are covered but it's cool when I land

Layers!

I fly a lot for work and home (Glasgow) will normally always be considerably colder than wherever I'm going to, so I'll start with full-length leggings, socks, trainers, a t-shirt with a vest top underneath, hoody / sweatshirt, sometimes a gilet or anorak and hat.

I'll take a pashmina with me so that I can strip off on the plane and use it during the flight or when landing, depending on the climate.

Hat, gilet, hoody, t-shirt and socks can then all be removed as required, rolled up and stuffed in hand luggage.

Reverse for the home journey.

How long is the flight itself? Because it needs to be comfortable.

But usually, unless it's long haul, I'd fly in cropped chinos or similar and wear a t-shirt and trainers. I'd have a jumper and/or jacket depending on temperature at home when I left. If I think it's going to be super hot on arrival, I might have a pair of sandals in my hand luggage to swap out easily with my trainers.

I find planes freezing so I go trainers, leggings, dress, cardi… then take off the cardi when I get there and have the option to take off leggings.

also wear my sun hat to the airport

SoupDragon · 21/06/2023 16:16

Loose lightweight jersey trousers, sleeveless linen mix shirt, trainers. Plus a cardigan.

TheChosenTwo · 21/06/2023 16:18

Normally leggings and trainers but does depend on when you’re going, I usually have a summer holiday when it’s generally shit here anyway (because our summers are usually lovely now and then atrocious when the kids break up for the holidays!) and then go for a winter bit of sun too. It’s never as cold as I imagine on the plane tbh, if anything I’m usually a bit warm.
And at the other end it’s often aircon transport to the destination so not too bad in leggings and trainers.

jersey harem pants, tshirt, jumper. comfy but not slobby.

Something like this. I'm always cold on planes so need layers.

If it's somewhere that will be really hot when I arrive, but chilly in the UK, I wear leggings and a short sleeved/sleeveless dress with trainers. Then a shawl over the top. I find the shawl is more comfortable than a jumper/hoodie/cardigan on the flight as it's easy to slip off without getting in the way of the person next to me and can be wrapped around me or bundled in to a pillow if I want to. When I arrive at the hot destination the shawl goes in my hand luggage before I get off the plane and leggings are removed in the airport toilets and put in hand luggage.

The only down side I've found to this is that the teen DC who laugh at me for my 'old lady shawl' try to take it to use as a blanket if they want to sleep!

Suprima · 21/06/2023 16:26

Just whatever you are comfortable in for travelling. For me it’s denim shorts, a t shirt, a vest for easy breastfeeding and a shirt over the top. And trainers or flip flops so you don’t have to take your shoes off at security

no need to dress for the sun- you are going to walk through an air conditioned airport, usually sit on air conditioned transport then be delivered to an air conditioned lobby

dressing in a summer dress might leave you a bit chilly

Shopgirl1 · 21/06/2023 16:26

Jeans, t shirt, light jacket I can put in luggage on arrival, trainers.

maddiemookins16mum · 21/06/2023 16:28

3/4 leg cargo trousers, t shirt and I have a cardi or hoodie (I get cold on planes). I wear pumps and take socks too (feet also get cold).

Kinsters · 21/06/2023 16:31

I always wear leggings, a jumper and trainers on the plane as it can be cold. I take the jumper off at the airport when we land and then change into more appropriate clothes at the first opportunity ie at the hotel (or if we were too early to check in then I'd grab an outfit change from my suitcase and change in a loo or something).

Cuckoosheep · 21/06/2023 16:40

It depends where I'm going but usually wide leg trousers or jeans and a tshirt or blouse with a light jacket, nothing tatty or old.

TiggeryBear · 21/06/2023 17:05

I generally wear jeans / leggings with trainers (or whatever footwear I want to take with me that is quite bulky so leave more room in my case) t-shirt & hoody as I find planes cold.

Lis1992 · 29/06/2023 00:28

Thanks all! I went with flowy cropped trousers and a blouse in the end, with sandals. Brought a sweater for the chill on the plane. I will say I was freezing on the flight but reasonably comfy when we landed
