Good double sofabed or day bed

Hi,
Has anyone slept on a double sofabed or daybed that was really comfortable, and if so what was it please? Or any to avoid? We're looking for a double bed for occasional use in the guest room that can fold away to single or sofa size. Maybe ikea hemnes with the spring mattresses? Thank you.

Thank you. I found them on John Lewis £1300, was hoping to spend less but is that the price of comfort?

When I downsized I got this one to put in my spare room / study - my friends tell me it's comfy (it is to sit on but I haven't slept in it) and it stores the bedding too.https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/friheten-corner-sofa-bed-with-storage-skiftebo-dark-grey-s09133543/

Friend has this, I've slept on it and it's fine. She keeps a thick topper in the drawer though, for extra comfort.

Thank you, I was looking at that the other day, quite fancy it when we next change our sofa in the lounge so that's really helpful to know it's comfy. But I'm looking for something that folds smaller for the guest room, it won't be in a corner.

https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/nyhamn-3-seat-sofa-bed-with-pocket-spring-mattress-skartofta-black-light-grey-s09516985/ it's ugly as sin but worked brilliantly as a sofa in what was our spare room and it's a good size double and comfy to sleep on - I should know as I've been sleeping on it for over 3 months while we sort out divorce.

Sorry to hear about your divorce but thanks for the recommendation, if not seen that one before and I think my husband will like it and the reviews online are great too.

I'd advise you not to get an armless sofa for everyday use, rather than for a guest room, they are just not comfortable enough - you'd be surprised how much a sofa needs arms!

We have the ikea vimle range sofa beds. One two seater in office, one a corner version in playroom. The sofa bed section in both is the same size. Really comfy as sofa and the mattress is decent ( we slept on ours a few weeks during renovations). And a good price. It’s probably increased but our 2 seater was only around £600 3 ish years ago.

We have three in our house, do try them out before you buy. Often the ones that look the smartest folded up are the most uncomfortable to sleep on!
You really do get what you pay for, and some are a lot easier to set up than others. We have one purchased from John Lewis many years ago (which is the most comfortable both to sleep on and to sit on) but it is a pain to set up.
We have an Ikea one that is not very attractive to look at , looks like an untidy roll, but the most comfy one in Ikea when purchased about 4 years ago.

You've probably gathered from this that I have a large family who are often landing on me for a few days, so my tip for quick and easy setting up a sofa bed is to buy two cheap king sized duvets plus covers. One acts as a bottom sheet and makes the mattress more comfortable, and the other goes on top.
Believe me most mattresses on sofa beds are not that comfortable.
But you must try before you buy as they truly are a mixed bunch.

@Westfacing thanks I hadn't even noticed the lack of arms! Good point.

@Caspianberg thanks for that link. On the pricey end but good to know it's comfy.

@HazelBite thanks, I'd like to have that kind of house where you can put up an extra family.
