Opinions of mediums / psychics?

I'll start be saying I have always been skeptical and only ever viewers it as entertainment purposes as fair as these people go.

I do believe I'm an afterlife and signs etc but it's very low scale. I had a awful year in 2021 and lost both parents within 8 months, a friend bought me a private session ( and herself ) with a well known midlands based medium.

I was hesitant but open, very much realising this person could of got a wealth of knowledge from my socials even though they are private such as names / memories etc.

However he said two separate things that 100% is no where at all and only me and two people know about. I had a secret termination at 19 that only my best friend and partner ( not that same partner) know about I never told my parents at all due to beliefs etc he said ' you have a child now? I confirm and he said and ' there is a child there? I don't want to go into as this is no need but it's being acknowledged '

And also that my mother has started a funeral plan a year before she passed obviously hoping to live longer to pay it herself as it stands her plan only covers 1k or so and we were left with the 2.5k bill which we laughed about and said she always wanted to treat us and now she's stiffed us with a cracking big bill... all lighthearted and I hear but I only said This to my partner because it's a bit distasteful

The medium said mum is coming through almost a little playful and guilty saying sorry for the funeral bill and she wishes she has started her saving earlier.

Anyone else been a little caught out like this? I must admit it is comforting but I'm also still reaching for how they could is known this another way

I went to a medium years ago, not long after my grandad died. She said that she had my grandad there and he hated the new khaki curtains, didn’t think anything of it until I went to visit my grandma the week after and she’d hung these awful khaki curtains in the lounge. Still have no idea how she could possibly have known or guessed something like that but it was quite comforting at the time!

I find they read you, not the future. A lot of them are just very empathetic people - truly, not the people who say they are but aren’t really, a lot of psychics don’t know it’s empathy but think it’s external psychic powers. They’ll pick up on body movements, eye movements, suggestability, you’ll open up to them as they’ll be easy to talk to, they make you feel at ease.

people go there for a reason usually and they want to aid your search.
a lot of similar experiences happen to people too.
Your age, how you dress, how you sit etc are all tells. People give so much away without knowing.

@dreaminginrainbows this is the type of thing I mean just something so trivial

@SisterAgatha yes this is completely my thinking too it those two things I had no way of giving away why would you assume those two things and be bang on?
It's very reachable

I’m also told I am psychic and have a few experience which would back this up, if I properly believed in it. I believe in vibes that not everyone can acknowledge, and I just know deep down there is nothing a psychic could tell me that I don’t know or could find out myself. My relative is not going to wait till I’ve paid a stranger £20 to talk to me. They would just talk straight to me 😂

Well I’d assume any woman of middle age would have had a baby loss or know someone who had. One thing they say when wrong is - it’s coming up so take it for later- or think on it, or - it happened to your friend, they shared their thoughts deeply with you etc so I can feel it through you. Or you had a loss and didn’t know. I’d never say anything about a baby loss to a person tbh as I feel like that’s a bit much. But every one wears scars that can be picked up on.

They say things based on age, so 50’s+ will ask about passed parents. I lost my dad at 12, I used to get readers say “oh I’ve got your grandad here” right. Both grandads live, could it be an uncle? “Oh no defo older man, grey hair” ah right I lost my dad at 12… and they’d say oh! It’s him then. Right, weird because you said older man and my dad had red hair and was 33… to which they answer, you clearly have the gift too, or something else distracting. some psychics really do not even know they do it. It’s a dance of conversation and tells.

I’ve seen some who I thought “fraud” straight away, and some who described extremely accurately a person (ie spirit) there in the room.

All fantasy imho

Manipulative crooks.

Scam artists, every single one.

Tim Minchin said it best.

They are either lying or mentally ill.

30not13 · 21/06/2023 13:34

Both of those things are very vague/open to interpretation plus would probably have happened and be applicable to a lot of women your age.

Both things I could take as being messages for myself for instance.

That said I do believe there are things out there we cannot explain.

ComtesseDeSpair · 21/06/2023 14:21

If people really did have these super powers then don’t you think they’d use them to either a) make megabucks or b) do some genuine good in the world for people who need it - or c) both - rather than advertise on Facebook to tell people with a fairly modest amount of cash what colour their dead grandparent’s curtains are, or remind them that they had an abortion years ago? Do you not think it strange that they can apparently summon the spirit of somebody who you once knew the moment you book a session, but apparently can’t say, summon the spirit of somebody who died aboard the Titanic to tell us where the currently missing submersible might be?

Yep.

I do believe that there are people out there who are 'super-readers' - so incredibly tuned in to other people's conscious and unconscious micro-movements that they appear to be almost psychic - but reading minds or talking to dead people? No.
