What is the benchmark for the worst film you’ve ever seen?

Whenever you get a film that’s been rated poorly, what is the film you say “well it can’t be as bad as xxx”

Ours is Beaster Bunny. Not even my type of film. It’s one of dh’s million dollar movie craps. Except it was so bad he insisted I had to watch some of it, just so I can see how bad it was.

And it was baaaad. Like how on earth did this get released let alone even made bad.

My own Private Idaho.

You can't be serious. Keanu at his most breathtakingly beautiful.

Lost in Translation.

That’s a beautiful film!

Hancock

😮It's not that bad!!

user9630721458 · 20/06/2023 22:15

Dogville - Lars, several hours of torturing a woman does not a movie make.
American Beauty - just yuck. What was up with all the glowing reviews?

StillWantingADog · 20/06/2023 22:16

LorraineInSpain · 20/06/2023 22:11

Meet Joe Black has to be up there

yup. Awful.

Agree about Cats - mind-blowingly awful.

The latest Halloween film - walked out of the cinema as were other people - utter crap. I'm a Jamie Lee Curtis fan but she's in it for literally 5 minutes.

Could only get through the first 10 minutes of LaLaLand - it's one of my ds's favourite films but I just can't watch it, it's terrible and I can't STAND Ryan Reynolds.

Also Far and Away and Eyes Wide Shut are surely both up there - again, I'm a fan of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise but these were utter turkeys!

Ryan Reynolds isn’t in Lalaland.

Ryan Gosling is.

bloodyeffinnora · 20/06/2023 22:17

out of Africa, so so boring and the grand Budapest Hotel, what a crock of sh..

EnthENd · 20/06/2023 22:18

I'm not even sure. It might have been Dance Flick, if it wasn't that then it was something along the same lines. I walked out about 15 minutes in.

FluffyPinkSocks · 20/06/2023 22:19

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, an hour or so of my life that’ll I never get back

Twattle · 20/06/2023 22:19

Red Sparrow. The film that knocked Jennifer off her Oscar perch. I couldn't get past the Russian spy school for hookers vibe.

I walked out of watching
Miami Vice
New Jurassic Park

I was so disappointed with Dusk till dawn.
I thought it had such a good premise. George Clooney and Tarentino kidnapping a family to take drugs across Mexico. I was anticipating a gritty road movie and then when the vampires came out, I kept looking at my dh saying this is a dream sequence right?! I was so angry.

EvilElsa · 20/06/2023 22:20

Two absolute stinkers starring Mark Wahlburg. The Happening (so bad it was comedic, still not sure if that was the point) and Max Payne.

Old -acting at the same skill level as the Hollyoaks cast.

Tenet -was really excited about it and was just pretentious nonsense. Actually made me angry for some reason!

Jaws -The Revenge. Hilarious and so bad. Particularly fond of the shark roaring.

Batman vs Superman. Not even saved by the beauty of Henry Cavill. So boring, I can't even remember what went on. I know I ended up on my phone.

Sex and the City 2 -feels like they couldn't be arsed. Lawrence of my labia 😱

Godzilla (the 90s one) where they drive into Godzillas mouth and drive out again (from height) unscathed. The whole cinema burst out laughing. So poor.

Probably loads more!

LizHoney · 20/06/2023 22:20

Waiting to Exhale. What a croc of shite.

EvilElsa · 20/06/2023 22:21

The new Jurassic World film about giant grasshoppers

cassiatwenty · 20/06/2023 22:22

Those not keen on Lost in Translation probably never saw 365 Days

MoreRainbowsPlease · 20/06/2023 22:23

Existenz and AI. Both Dp's choices. Luckily I had his mate to laugh with at Existenz which got us through as DP enjoyed it! AI we both kept thinking would get better, plus we didn't have much money in those days so we weren't going to leave the cinema without watching the whole film. By the end we wished we had.

Flipflops123 · 20/06/2023 22:24

Don't look up

Lost in translation

And some weird film about crocodiles in a house flood trying to eat someone in the shower

EarringsandLipstick · 20/06/2023 22:24

IrisGold · 20/06/2023 21:12

Polar Express. Goes down in family history as the worst film ever and is the acknowledged Gold family benchmark for awful films.

Oh yes. I hate this film.

Bloody hell, not exactly high class movies. Did Pulp Fiction disappoint you too?

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 20/06/2023 22:26

The Blair Witch Project - dh and I watched it, expecting it to be terrifying, after all the press coverage, but we just kept asking each other “when is this going to get scary?” It never did - it was baffling.

sobeyondthehills · 20/06/2023 22:26

I am going to say I love bad movies and I have sat through and enjoyed all the sharknados, all the anacondas, all the lake placids. Lake Placid Vs Anaconda. Lets not forget the 8 or 9 Tremors movies, from Dusk till Dawn 2. 3 5, 7 and 9 headed shark

So if you are looking for a really shit film Its called Rubber.

Its about a murderous tyre.

PerrinAybara · 20/06/2023 22:27

A Zed & Two Noughts.

It was horrendous, just awful. The plot, the visuals, every aspect of it.

LorraineInSpain · 20/06/2023 22:27

Just remembered another one - the 1998 version of The Avengers.

Sean Connery as an evil scientist… dressed in a teddy bear suit.

Albaniarocks · 20/06/2023 22:27

Bohemian Rhapsody

Lorelaiandrory · 20/06/2023 22:28

I think our worst was American Beauty.

Imabitbusyatthemoment · 20/06/2023 22:28

Snakes on a plane
