Help! 40th birthday present ideas please!

A dear friend turns 40 next month. We don't usually buy birthday presents but I want to this year to mark her special birthday. However I'm really struggling for ideas! I thought I might be able to find a nice afternoon tea voucher on Wowcher or something but it's all a bit risky in terms of quality and I don't want to spend money on something that's poor quality. Plus there's not a lot of options along those lines. Please throw all ideas at me!

Unless she’s teetotal, take her out for cocktails. Afternoon tea be damned!

Mmmm she's not really one for going out out. She's quite self conscious so I've got in my head a fun experience for just the two of us. Or something just for her, but I think she'd enjoy something together more.

@Bluevelvetsofa yes I've thought about this but can't really find a good deal and am worried about the quality of spas nowadays. Kind of have it in my head you have to pay mega bucks to get a really nice spa day

40 £1 coins displayed for her to spend with a note with 40 compliments?

FrogSplash · 20/06/2023 21:23

Go round to her house and get a Rick Stejn afternoon tea delivered for you both.

It's lovely, feels posh and a bit special, perfect if she'd feel self conscious going out. If budget allows take some fizz with it too. Enjoy some great food and reminisce.

Escape room?

FrogSplash · 20/06/2023 21:26

I wish I could edit to add... not as expensive as you'd imagine for Rick Stein and it came beautifully packed and it just felt posh and a bit decadent. I sent it a friend who was recovering from an operation and was a bit sad and she was giddy and thrilled with it in a way I've never seen her with anything else I've ever given her (she not really a 'stuff' person but is also a real homebody).

I second the Rick Stein delivery. Have bought a few now for my parents who've loved them and have gone on to buy them for friends.

@FrogSplash
Thank you so much. This sounds lovely, I'm off to have a look...

Lego! You can get lovely botanicals sets. I'm turning 40 next month and want lego 😁
