Anyone had new carpets recently?

If you had new carpets recently, how much did it cost you? I've been quoted between £900-£1300 to carpet 1 medium sized double bedroom and some stairs which seems excessive. It does include underlay, grippers and fitting but it seems a lot for less than 30m squared in total. It's not a big space.

£520 for a small double bedroom ( new carpet , underlay , threshold gripper and fitting )

Depends entirely on the quality of the carpet of course.

That sounds about right. My local (very competitively priced) carpet shop charges around £30-£35 per square metre for a mid range carpet including underlay, fixtures & fittings as fitting.

Recently had done to sell house..

Paid £800 for one bedroom and landing and stairs. Bedroom carpet was mid price, stairs carpet was cheap.

We went to an off-cut warehouse, spoke to the guy who's been there forever and a day, told him what we were after and said we'd wait. (Good quality carpet and underlay, gave him an idea of colour.) He told us to come back the next Friday, and lo! - he had something suitable in.

We left the grippers down from the last one. Completely empty room, medium size double bedroom.

Including the carpet fitting, all in it was £200. I thought that was pretty good.

£350 for a small single bedroom.
£1200 for a living room.

Quoted just under £1000 for box room, stairs and landing to be carpeted and small bathroom to have Lino down. Grippers and underlay included. As good quality carpet and underlay as we can afford as it’s such a high tread area. We’re in the Midlands if that matters.

£1,200 Inc underlay, grippers and fitting for a 20 sq m living room and 10x11 sq m bedroom. It was a polypropylene carpet .

£800 for hall, stairs & landing, included underlay & fitting.

darkmodeon · 20/06/2023 20:56

Very much depends on the quality of the underlay and carpet

Price is like asking how long is a piece of string, most local not big name shops will have ranges for all budgets but bear in mind if you go in asking for thick soft carpet that will be a premium price, budget carpet will probably last way longer these days as the premium thick carpet looks tatty in no time. I sell them all the time and people never listen!!
