Is this a butterfly?

can anyone ID this bug please. I’m a complete arachnophobe so I don’t like googling bugs…

It’s on my kitchen ceiling. Should I help it outside ( on to what kind of bush?) or squish it (invasive species etc)

Why would you squish it? Just put a cup over it, and scoop it outside.

Butterflies have little rounded ends on their antenna, moths don't. Can't see enough detail from your photo.

I think that is a plume moth, just put it outside.
If it's worrying you leave it alone with an open window for it to find its own way out.
