How soon is too soon to buy a gift?

Hey all!
My best friend has just this morning told me that he and his wife are expecting their first(!!)
I would love to get her a little something, however; she's only around the 10 week point (they have only told a handful of close friends & family for now).

I don't want to go crazy with tons of presents at this time.. but, would a pregnancy journal be too much too early? I've found a beautiful one which I'd really love to give her but.. should I just stick to a nice little pamper set?

Give me your experiences & thoughts please - Thank you 😀!

I would say nothing for now, wait until they're past the 12 week mark.

The journal sounds like a lovely present and I’m sure she will love it - but gift it once she’s past 12 wks.

Thank you both!

Is she the sort who would actually like and use a pregnancy journal, especially when a third or more of her pregnancy will be over by then? I think you sound like a kind and thoughtful friend, but honestly, I would have hated a present like this. Last thing I felt like or had time to do while pregnant was journal.

Others may disagree, but I think that when women become pregnant or have children, everything in life becomes about them being pregnant or mothers. The fact they have other interests and needs seems to get forgotten. If you want to get her something, I'd actually get her something for herself - a spa day (albeit it will have to be a 'pregnancy one' I know for safety reasons) or something self-care related that you know she'd enjoy.

I do think she would love the book, I just worry it's too early..

@mindutopia that's a great idea - I think I'll go this route to be safe and then get her something baby related later into the pregnancy 😁
