Post A level volunteering work

DS has just finished A levels and is off to uni in the autumn.

Plans he made for the summer have, for complex and ultimately boring reasons, fallen through. He's putting a brave face on it and looking for a temp job in our home town.

I'm trying to encourage him to think outside the box and look at some sort of residential volunteering type option. He's looking at YHA and WWOOF. Does anyone know of anything/ anywhere else that might still accept a volunteer at short notice?

I have no idea about accepting people now, but there are lots of places that look for volunteers for residential weeks.
