Hi
I have received an email saying that I have passed my security clearance and vacancy holder will contact me shortly couple of weeks ago. Any idea about how long is shortly when it comes to CS please.
thanks

Aaaaaaaages.

So unfortunately the civil service is slow.

To directly answer your question I'd say 90% are done between 2-12 weeks with a mean of around 7 weeks (then roughly a another 4 weeks until start date).

It's rare it'd be beyond 3 months without an update unless it's a mass recruitment campaign.

Tharu0044 · 19/06/2023 21:13

Thank you very much for your reply. I think this was for a mass recruitment 😬

Well you're past the hard stage so hopefully not too much longer now, it's within your department's gift now, so you can chase them.

Yes alas, I think mine was
Feb - closing date
Apr - Interviewed
May - Provisional
June - Checks complete
July - Official offer
Oct - Started

Last week an interview for another mass campaign. Absolutely tanked it but honestly if I got it I would be surprised if I was placed by Xmas!

yut · 19/06/2023 22:22

Crikey spoke too soon, usually it's the security clearance that slows things down!

Pizzofpizza · 26/06/2023 16:15

How long did your SC take please OP? My DSis has been waiting for months now!

Ilikewinter · 26/06/2023 16:19

If your security checks have been done then it shouldnt be long. Have you received your certificate/letter type email (!) with the confirmation?. If youve checked the portal then this certificate comes separately. The department will need to wait for this before they can start you. But then its down to your new manager so you can chase it if you have a contact?

TimeToMoveIt · 26/06/2023 16:22

About 4 weeks from security clearance for me. But then it only took about 2 months from interview

Tharu0044 · 26/06/2023 21:26

It took 2 months

Hi @Tharu0044 how long did it take in the end? Have you started your position? My security checks have just been completed today so now I’m waiting on hearing from the CS to give me my formal offer 🙏🏽🤞🏽 it’s a bulk campaign, so desperate to start now! X

Bablu0704 · 07/11/2023 13:10

Hello @Tharu0044 what happened in the end. Did you start? My checks have completed in the first week on September and since then no update. The portal says “We are reviewing the outcomes of your pre-employment checks.
We will contact you as soon as a decision has been made. Please do not resign from your current position at this time.” I tried contacting the person who emailed me the provisional offer but the only reply i get always is that they are not involved in the process of checks and can’t help me. It’s really an exhausting process, just waiting for an update.
