Missing Titanic submarine

1000 replies

Twinklesgolden · 19/06/2023 17:50

How horrifying that a submarine carrying 5 people has gone missing. Apparently there’s only 96 hours of air on the submarine when it sets off.

The people on board must be terrified!

I don't know why research on the Titanic is ongoing. It's not as though any findings will benefit future sea travel as the ship is so old and obsolete. They should leave it alone.

Billionaires are very often the people who fund scientific research. A lot of research projects and new inventions wouldn't take place at all without wealthy philanthropists.

And that's great, but has no bearing on who should foot the bill for rescue when it all goes wrong.

Was there a pressing need for more Titanic "research"?

Thought I was on Facebook for a moment there

If it was a "secret mission", surely the least sensible thing to do would go AWOL in such a high profile way, at an incredibly infamous spot, garnering the attention of a large chunk of the media across the globe... not particularly secret.

If they manage to locate the submersible, perhaps they could use a giant magnet attached to a steel cable and lower it down to pick up the stricken vessel. I agree that this type of tourism is perhaps not in the best taste, but I feel desperately sorry for all on board and hope that they can be rescued.

Righto Confused

It seems horribly ironic if the site of one disaster was to become the site of a second. I hope they are found on the surface and in time.

I think if I were in that situation I would lose my mind. I feel sick for the plight of those on board.

I was talking in general terms about research globally, not this specific event, sorry if I didn't make that clear. I sincerely hope the people are rescued safe and well, but I'm with many others who believe the Titanic should be left alone.

Oh just shut up and take your ludicrous conspiracy theories elsewhere, it's completely tasteless

CovetedAsFuck · 19/06/2023 23:22

@Hawkins0001 You aren't making any sense and it's a bit crass to be coming out with all this airport thriller nonsense tbh, about people who are most likely lost to a horrible accident

I understand the fascination with Titanic but this mission seems so foolhardy and it rescuers may be at risk too. I really hope that whatever the outcome (and I’m longing for a good one) it will be the last tourist trip to the ship.

Ah yes the game is up, they've gone on a secret mission in search of dolphins that have the ability to weld metal together with sonar and fire lazers out of their eyes. These dolphins will be captured and used to repair secret nuclear naval submarines during war time....

You've got us....

Jesus wept, 5 souls are lost at sea, and you chose now to put your tin foil hat on 🤦🏻‍♀️

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 19/06/2023 23:31

I did not know that Navy subs don't go very deep (all relative, I know) I am the Hunt for Red October generation,

This is ghastly for all.

Blinky21 · 19/06/2023 23:35

What a thoroughly stupid thing to do, like those idiots who pay millions to be the first passengers in space

It(titanic) is 2.5 miles under the surface…how big a magnet do you think they’d need?

A mission so top secret that they decide to draw the attention of the worlds press by going missing?
