Sorry have no bearings on London, me and DS are trying to sort out a weekend for him and GF. So hotel found is near St Pauls and they have a show booked in Westend/Covent Garden area. Is it an easy route via tube?

You can walk! It wouldn't take that long if no disability issues.

Spinet · 19/06/2023 13:07

Yes, or hop on a bus.

Ringpeace · 19/06/2023 13:07

Loads of buses on that route too. Hop off on The Strand and it's a very short walk.

Yep St Pauls tube station, right in the shadow of St Pauls :-)

LaurieFairyCake · 19/06/2023 13:11

15 minutes walk

Or jump on any bus headed in that direction and go half a dozen stops

It couldn't be easier

Yes there's the tube but Covent Garden tube station is horribly busy and you have to use lifts so it's much better to stay above ground

Bit rude, @almostoverthehill

Yes OP, there are several stations within easy walking distance of St Paul’s.

Thank you everyone.
Last question: Anyone stayed at NYX Hotel Holbourn?

OP posts:
BlackberrySky · 19/06/2023 13:17

It's three stops on the tube with a change at Holborn so very close. Personally I would just take the tube if they don't know London very well.

PawsAndReflection · 19/06/2023 13:18

Download city mapper- it's amazing for getting around places you don't know. Much better than Google maps

Infusionist · 19/06/2023 13:19

I’ve not stayed there, but it’s in Bloomsbury/ Holborn, not St Paul’s.

Id download Citymapper which will get you around.

C00kp1ssBabtridge · 19/06/2023 13:19

It's a lovely short walk to Covent Garden

nancy75 · 19/06/2023 13:24

It will take longer to get the tube than it will to walk.
what theatre is it he’s going to?

Longingforthesummer · 19/06/2023 13:27

Lyceum theatre. He's now found a hotel in Holborn which is mega close to theatre and covent garden - on offer NYX Hotel very quirky and a short walk to theatre from Holborn I think! BUt as always on trip advisor mixed reviews

I agree City mapper App and they are all set. As per pp it isn't far to walk and doesn't t seem to be in St Paul's area. It is much easier to get your bearings on foot +/- bus... you can navigate via river , BT tower, St Paul's , H of P etc .

Yes sorry getting confusing...
UPDATE
Show at Lyceum

2 x Hotels to choose from - 1 near St Pauls and 1 in Holborn

OP posts:
Spinet · 19/06/2023 16:54

I haven't been to NYx hotel but the area is nice. Busy enough to feel populated but walking distance from CG. I think the hotel is a perfectly fine business type hotel or it was when I looked round it 10 years ago (when it was something else) anyway.

nancy75 · 19/06/2023 17:15

Both places are an easy walk to Covent Garden, the hotel in Holborn look nice, I’d go with that

ReviewingTheSituation · 19/06/2023 17:20

Definitely get CityMapper. You see London in a whole new way. I always used to just use the tube (or walk if I knew where I was going), but it makes buses so much more accessible, and tells you if it's easier to walk.

I don't know where your hotel is, but St Pauls to Lyceum is easily walkable (and it sounds from PPs that it's actually nearer than St Pauls).

CeliaNorth · 19/06/2023 17:21

Lyceum is just off the Strand, isn't it? You don't really want Covent Garden tube if you're going there.

I agree with pp, bus or walk is best. Take time to walk down to the river or along to Traf Square - lovely on a warm summer evening.
