Help! BA flight cancellation question

BAFlightQuestion · 18/06/2023 15:07

We’re on holiday and our EasyJet flight home tonight has just been cancelled. The internet here is rubbish and my attempt to rebook EJ for tomorrow timed out. It then showed all EJ flights tomorrow as sold out. I booked us flights on BA instead. But then my email showed that the EJ flight had in fact gone through. So now I’m down £700 in BA flights, and you can’t cancel if your flight is within 24 hours 😬.
Do you think I can move the flight to later in the week, and then cancel it? Has anyone done this??

I think you need to call them and beg mercy. What a nightmare for you OP

If you've only just booked them, call BA. They may well refund, they're usually brilliant.

I moved some flights during Covid, when they had more relaxed rules; and it didn't give you the chance to cancel again - essentially once you'd moved them, that option was gone. It looks like that's still the case, so if you move them to next week, you'd lose them next week.

Sad Just spoke to them and they said we can’t cancel. Am now seeing if I can get a refund for the EJ flights. It won’t be as much but better than nothing. I’m worried as of course we changed them so that might be a problem. Although as they cancelled the original flight, they might be more merciful.
It’s my birthday as well, which is the icing on the cake…
