How dangerous is it to use a trampoline with no safety net?

We have a 6ft trampoline in our very small back yard that Dd (10) uses.
We are getting some much needed work done to the garden and we won’t have space for the trampoline to be permanently up anymore. However we could potentially store it without it’s net in a side alley and roll it out onto the yard for occasional use.
Im just wondering how dangerous this would be? Dd would only ever be on it alone. She would only be jumping feet first or onto her bottom. No flips or anything…

Very! A lot of broken bones in children happen when they come flying off a trampoline

Chowtime · 18/06/2023 13:32

I'd say quite to very dangerous

7Worfs · 18/06/2023 13:34

Broken limbs are guaranteed.

Well clearly broken limbs aren't guaranteed. But it's well outside of my risk assessment.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 18/06/2023 13:37

Incredibly dangerous. It needs to have a net on it if she's going to use it.

hattyhathat · 18/06/2023 13:38

Really dangerous you'd be stupid to allow it. Surely it tells you in the instruction manual not to do it?

EnjoyingTheSilence · 18/06/2023 13:39

It worth it

Sherrystrull · 18/06/2023 13:39

A friend's child got concussion from falling off a trampoline with no net.

SquirrelSoShiny · 18/06/2023 13:40

Stupidly dangerous.

ploopypleepy · 18/06/2023 13:41

We managed for years on ours growing up without a net doing flips and all sorts, it was a huge trampoline though. We had one girl who wasn't used to it break her arm though. I guess it depends how good your DD is.

I had aa large one for about 15 years with no safety net . Total injury - my DS jumped off the roof onto the trampoline when he was 12 and very reckless. Broke his nose. No other injuries which I think was pretty good for all those years and hundreds of kids jumping on it over time.

goldenlocks · 18/06/2023 13:43

Dumb question.

ItsAsIfWeWereThere · 18/06/2023 13:43

Thanks
right we won’t do it then!
I remember reading that the worst accidents happen due to falling badly onto the trampoline or colliding with other jumpers, which might well be true, but I guess falling off still causes some horrible injuries too.

Have heard of serious back injuries when someone has fallen on their back across the edge.

Perry13579 · 18/06/2023 14:02

The boy next door broke his back using a garden trampoline without a net. There is no way I would let my child regularly use one.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/06/2023 14:04

Extremely. Have a chat with an orthopaedic or neurosurgeon and you’ll throw it away.
No net, no trampoline.

Smartiepants79 · 18/06/2023 14:25

If you can place 4 people round it as spotters when she’s on it then she can do it
