Stop DD going on school trip

DD (12) has a school trip this week to a botanical gardens.

I paid for it before Christmas (I thought it was a compulsory trip, as it mentioned financial assistance for those who needed it, due to being in school time).

DD has become increasingly upset that her friends aren't going. I just thought it was one or two, who'd forgot to pay, but it appears that more aren't going than are, and NONE of her friends.

I feel bad, as re-reading the initial letter I can see it did say if you want your daughter to go, which I'd not noticed.

So I have one very upset DD who would rather stay with her friends and do revision classes, than spend the day with others she doesn't talk to.

I'm not sure even if I can pull her out now. She said she feels she has to go as I've paid, but the money went months ago, so I'm not bothered about that.

Providing you haven't used the financial assistance then not sure why this is an issue. If she feels bad but you don't mind then just tell her so. Can't imagine a trip to botanical gardens was a fortune anyway?

@liveforsummer nope, never used financial assistance, I only mentioned that, as I thought it was for compulsory trips, which is why I wrongly assumed everyone would be going.

It wasn't a fortune and the money doesn't worry me. I thought it would be an interesting day though. Thank you.

Nothing worse than a trip with no friends or being bored out of your mind and we did a few of those I hated the geography ones.
