National Railway Museum York - parking?

Hi all. We are driving up to Yorkshire for a holiday soon. Does anybody know what the car parking is like at the railway museum on Sundays, does the car park get really full? We would be arriving at around 1pm I think.

If it is nightmarishly busy, we might change plans.

There is parking for the national railway museum. If that is full (unlikely) there is parking nearby within a short walk

Hope you have a pleasant time!

Are you able to use the park and ride? It's so much easier then trying to drive through York. I believe the Rawcliffe park and ride goes near the museum. The museum is definately worth a visit even when busy.

I would use the park and ride at Clifton Moor. Much easier.

I have taken the sensible step of looking at a map. 😂 We will be staying at the Premier Inn along the road from that Rawcliffe park & ride, it is actually nearer the museum than I thought, so we could probably walk. We can't check in till 3pm though, so I don't know whether they would allow us to park at the hotel earlier in the day. I might call them and ask.
Hmm. Food for thought.

Park and ride into York!

Don't know about the others, but Rawcliffe Bar P&R has a bus stop at the museum.

@CatsOnTheChair Thanks, I have now noticed that the park & ride bus goes past our hotel which is nearer the city centre than I thought, so we will just park at our hotel instead and walk from there.

Definitely park and right. I usually do the one at the outlet centre.
