Just announced, because Gillian Keegan has refused to clarify whether the DfE will accept the recommendation of a 6.5% pay rise from the independent pay review body, and is also refusing the publish the report.

She is also refusing to re-enter into negotiations with teachers and headteachers.

The NEU will be striking in July, all 4 teaching unions, including the headteaching unions are currently balloting for strike action in the Autumn term.

Unison have balloted support staff too.

The result won't be known for a few weeks yet but will be interesting to see and also be interesting to know (if it's agreed to strike) if they join the national strike or add other days.

I haven't been balloted and neither has my colleague

I’m not a teacher my DC starts sch is Sept.

I support the teachers strike, a better pay deal and possibly T&C will lead to better retention/education for my child.

I find the present situ scary and don’t understand the position of many here.

If strikes with all their disruption haven’t fully worked then why would disruption of a lesser nature?

This govt either doesn't care, has no idea what to do or… or is a 13 year old tired Tory govt.

Teachers, I hope you get a decent deal. I hope more of you don’t resign.

@PaigeMatthews they had an extra inset at their school because the head teacher was asked to leave and they needed to revamp the gcse courses. And yes I am saying she is very behind and has not covered the content. Teachers have left and been off long term sick and cover staff aren't the right subject experts. The Sam issues affecting every school and part of the reason for strikes.
I can't afford tutoring or private and wish I could. I'm doing my best to cover content at home after a long working day myself and also for her too.
I do not blame the teachers for striking at all, the state of education (and health)is dreadful but at the same time am really really worried about what it means for my kid and her future. She desperately needs to learn as much as she can between now and next may. Sad

Unison

I'm with them. I had my ballot on Thursday. They also text my colleague asking anyone who had t received it to contact them. But I didn't get that. I'd speak to your colleges and get anyone who hasn't been contacted to call up.
