Age/sun spot turns red after shower

I’ve got several brown “age spots” on each cheek that have appeared in the last few years. I’ve never worried about them as my mum also has them. I wear sunscreen daily but but hasn’t stopped them.

One of them (the very first one) I noticed is slightly raised, like the skin is a bit puffy. It’s not very noticeable but I can see it first thing in the morning. I asked my facialist, who is very into the science of skin, and she wasn’t worried at all.

Now this spot has started to turn red after I shower, like the browny red colour of a carpet burn. What’s bizarre is the others don’t, only this one.

Has anyone else experienced this? I don’t want to bother a doctor if it’s normal but I can’t find anything on Google.

You must see a doctor if a spot changes colour or becomes itchy or weeps tbh.

I should take my own advice come to think of it ! Got one on my temple which gets very sore if I wash too vigorously. You won't be wasting their time.

Thanks @Abhannmor I’ve got to go and do the old peri hormone check, so I’ll mention it then.

I’ve read about changes being suspect but they never list this as being a worrisome symptom. On the other hand, I’ve never seen it confirmed as a benign symptom either.

Definitely get yours checked out too!
