Left chicken in microwave overnight - safe to eat?

Roasted a chicken yesterday. Put it in the microwave to cool down and then totally forgot to put it in the fridge so it has been in there all night. Would you eat it or dump it?

Dump it

Forestdweller11 · 17/06/2023 11:27

If it was January in our freezing house I'd eat it, in June nope.

ArtixLynx · 17/06/2023 11:28

dump it.

For the love of god get rid of it, just not worth it. I've just had an awful stomach bug and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, food poisoning from chicken would be even worse than that!

TheFormidableMrsC · 17/06/2023 11:30

No, not in this weather. Don't risk it.

Dotcheck · 17/06/2023 11:30

Dump it. I’m this heat it probably smells already

wottf · 17/06/2023 11:31

I'm really quite relaxed about this sort of thing but no way would I eat this.

RabbitsRock · 17/06/2023 11:31

Definitely dump

Findyourneutralspace · 17/06/2023 11:31

Not in this heat. I’m usually fairly laid back about these things and have an iron stomach but it wouldn’t pass the ick test for me.

Babyroobs · 17/06/2023 11:32

OMG no !

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 17/06/2023 11:33

I wouldn't eat it

Neverinamonthofsundays · 17/06/2023 11:39

Yeah exactly what I thought. Half a roast chicken gone in the compost bin. Can only blame myself.

Off-topic but why would you put it in the microwave to cool it?

Surely it would have just been trapping in the steam?

Neverinamonthofsundays · 17/06/2023 11:46

Because I had to leave the house and the dogs would have jumped and got it if i left it anywhere else!

Ah ok! ❤️

EarringsandLipstick · 17/06/2023 13:50

Sorry I meant 😀 rather than ❤️, in case that seemed rather excessive!

HolyFire · 17/06/2023 13:52

Chuck it.

Forestdweller11 · 17/06/2023 13:55

You mention dogs. I'd have fed it to them rather than chucking it unless they've got ultra sensitive stomachs

hattyhathat · 17/06/2023 14:05

The microwave doesn't protect it from bacteria.

fetchacloth · 17/06/2023 14:06

Throw Away without a doubt.

Exactly this.

My dogs think all their Christmases have come at once when we have chicken.

They get the wings and the underneath.

Yes, I know about the bones before anyone jumps on me. 😇

User17865 · 17/06/2023 14:08

For future occasions it could’ve gone straight in the fridge.

IwishIcouldButIcantSoIwont · 17/06/2023 14:08

Throw it away.

AsCloggedAsADysonFilter · 17/06/2023 14:10

I wouldn’t put anything warm in the fridge, you risk raising the internal temp and all your other food not being stored properly.

putthatdownsteve · 17/06/2023 14:34

My mother in law thinks a microwave some sort of protective force field for bacteria. She always leaves a roast chicken in it, for 3 or 4 days at a time.

She also cooks a chicken spaghetti sauce and leave it on the hob for 5 days, re heating it every day to serve.

First time she came to stay, she bought a lasagne for us. I went to put it in the fridge. “Oh don’t bother with that! Just leave it on the side, it’s been out on my side since I made it on Monday!” This was on the friday. They ate it over the weekend. I feigned a stomach ache.

Nothing sees a fridge and honestly, I don’t know how any of them are still alive.

I would bin it!
