No breakfast

I started weaning my DC at 5 months and we’re doing a mix of BLW and puréed food (all home cooked) and he loved everything. Had no aversions, allergies or anything he really rejected to eat until a few days ago when he has completely gone off his breakfast. He is now 6 1/2 months and will eat dinner perfectly fine but when it comes to breakfast he won’t eat anything. I have tried moving the time of his breakaway to earlier and later, tried doing BLW and porridge/cereal but nothing seems to be working. Just need some advice or reassurance that this is normal.

Ah they take these notions. I guess he's getting a milk feed when he wakes up? Probably just not hungry. It's not a problem at this young age. Actually my children are much older and they don't want breakfast in this hot weather either, just drinks.

If he's not hungry then forget breakfast.

I'm sure he'll let you know if he changes his mind!

I don't like breakfast, and one of my dcs are the same. Even as a baby she never wanted a feed first thing.

DS was like this for ages. I think it was because I'd give him milk as soon as he woke up so he just wasn't hungry. He's almost 18 months and lately he's been much better at eating it.

mommy707 · 16/06/2023 23:02

Hopefully mine does the same and figures himself out eventually :)

I used to be milk on waking and breakfast 2 hours later. If you are offering food straight after milk he might be too full.

My elder DD didn't eat any solid food til around 7.5 months and certainly not breakfast!

Some babies just aren't that into food until 8-10 months. It's food for fun til one.

DD is now the tallest in her year (age 12)
