Apparently dark chocolate bountys have been discontinued, a friend of mine is on a very restricted diet but was these were ok and now they’ve gone, poor thing has been scouring eBay for out of date ones 🙄 but they all seem to be gone as well.

Has anyone found or know of anything similar? (Not the blue ones 😂 must be dark chocolate)

I think they disappeared a while back, and I have never seen anything similar. Supermarket own brands only have the milk chocolate ones.
Desperate measures but could you put one in the fridge, pick all the chocolate off and cover in a nice dark chocolate for her?

Corner shops (and other independent retailers) often have them. I love a dark Bounty!

KnickerlessParsons · 16/06/2023 17:08

What is it about a dark bounty specifically that makes it ok for your friend to eat? I'm guessing it's missing some ingredient that the blue bounty has.

If we knew that people might be able to suggest an alternative.

MogTheMoogle · 16/06/2023 17:20

Oh no! Tbh they were always elusive, I assumed many shops didn't want to stock both so generally only did the milk one...which I feel is a self-fulfilling cycle, where its less popular because its less stocked and therefore becomes less popular....

It's a poor relation but aren't bountys just coconut ice (maybe with more sugar/corn syrup)...could she make coconut ice covered in dark chocolate...
Coconut ice being equal parts condensed milk, icing sugar and (maybe less) dessicated Coconut

WhatADrabCarpet · 16/06/2023 17:27

Oh no!!! They're the only chocolate that my elderly mum will eat! Nothing else.

Oh woe!

( Wondered why they're impossible to find.)

Puffalicious · 16/06/2023 17:31

Has she tried a Raspberry Ruffle Bar? I adore these- like a dark bounty but raspberry flavoured and smaller. You get 5 in a pack (Asda/ B&M/ Farmfoods I've seen them recently) for £1.50. Utterly delish.

mrsbyers · 16/06/2023 17:33

Be super easy to make her a few just coconut and condensed milk coated in dark chocolate

Moomin37 · 16/06/2023 17:33

As someone else said corner shops or B&M used to stock them periodically. Love love love a dark chocolate Bounty 😋

Denise82 · 16/06/2023 17:39

I'd just buy a normal blue bounty bar, pick the chocolate off and dip in melted dark chocolate 🍫 job done!

NineOfNine · 16/06/2023 18:00

Oh that’s a shame, I was wondering why I’d not been seeing them recently.

Thinking about the restricted diet, what was it that made the dark chocolate bounty ok but not the milk chocolate bounty?

HelloChompy · 16/06/2023 18:04

I love dark bountys but rarely see them anywhere. This explains why the last time I went into a small shop, which normally has them, only had the normal bountys 😞

CalamityCara · 16/06/2023 18:04

She can make her own. Google home made bounty bars, several come up. I have made milk chocolate ones. The only reason I won’t make them again is because I couldn’t stop eating them! Blush

vestanesta · 16/06/2023 18:10

Pret do a coconut bar but it's Pret prices...

SunnySomer · 16/06/2023 18:13

There is a similar thing to a dark bounty in Pret - at the counter where you order coffee. Might be checking if that’s ok?

FeebasAquarium · 17/06/2023 17:31

Thanks all! I will look into everything, it’s actually my nephew who has ulcerated colitis, he’s pretty much given up everything except protein and dark chocolate, and he mentioned how much he’s missing bounties.
I could’ve sworn I’d seen them in my local sainsburys but they must’ve been selling off the remnants.

According to google, dark chocolate Bounty’s are - or were - similar to Hershey’s Mounds Bars.

There’s a number of shops and websites that sell imported American sweets so it might be possible to find those over here in the U.K.? No idea how closely they resemble Bounty’s but it might be worth a try.

DMoh · 16/09/2023 16:44

Hey! I’m from New Zealand so not sure if you can find them wherever you are but Atkins has a coconut bar that is super low carb - low sugar and if the standard dark bounty was ok then the atkins one will def be! And it’s blimmin delicious x

Ftumch · 16/09/2023 16:48

The Pret a Manger chocolate coconut bar is similar and very delicious!

sunshine1201 · 16/09/2023 16:52

You could make them
