Come and look at my insect bite please!

1 day old insect bite - no idea what got me, but I react like this every time I’m bitten, whether it’s 2 times in a year or 20 - this is my first of the summer.

I saw a pharmacist because there was no bite relief cream on the shelves, and she’s said it’s infected and needs ABs.

I know, an expert has told me that, and it’s not that I’m doubting her, but this is what my body does every time I have a bite, it itches, looks dramatic for a day or two, then goes.
If I was prescribed ABs every time I react like this, over the summer I’d constantly be on them.

In the past I’ve just put cream on it, and occasionally I’ve gone down the AB route, and it doesn’t make any difference in how quickly it gets better.

Now she’s said it I’m doubting myself. I really don’t want to go on ABs unless absolutely necessary.

WIBU to leave it and seek help over the weekend if I need it? (I’m too late to speak to a gp at my surgery anyway as it’s afternoon, so I’d have to go to minor injuries anyway!)

I’ve added a photo - the bite area itself is about half a cm, the whole area is slightly raised about 1.5 inches across, slightly warm but not hard and swollen, it’s itchy, but not unbearably so.

Come and look at my insect bite please!

You know how you react. Try another pharmacy for bite cream and call 111 if you have unusual (for you) symptoms over the weekend.

I am not a medical professional but that doesn’t look anything like infected to me. My infected bite was absolutely spectacular though so perhaps my threshold is too high.

I didn’t think it looked infected, but the pharmacist insisted.

I’ve had one go infected a couple of times, and it’s quite obvious.
I’llleave it and see how it goes.

I've just had antibiotics for a bite and I wouldn't be concerned about what you've posted unless the picture is undershowing it.

My foot was swollen from high ankle to toes and I had a blister about 1/2" wide where the actual bite was.
