Job hunting.... what's it like?

Independently take on diverse and varied tasks in the student administration team.
What tasks do they mean by this?

Provide administrative and organisational support to students and lecturers in their day-to-day teaching activities
Is this things like making sure the rooms are free etc?

Ensure adequate dossier management and cooperation with related departments

Assist in the preparation of statistics and accounts

Maintaining and cultivating the flow of information and cooperation with various interfaces
and what does this actually mean?

Anything else mentioned in the JD, and possibly new ones. Lots of regular processes and lots dependent on what point you are in the academic year

There will likely be a central timetabling team who will book rooms. There will be uploading of content to Moodle or similar online platform, sending comms to students, that sort of thing

Ensure adequate dossier management and cooperation with related departments
Bit of a random description but if they are talking about student records it will mean ensuring marks are updated in the student records system (SRS), making sure decisions about offers and rejects are passed between admissions and tutors quickly, some updating of financial information about funding etc

Assist in the preparation of statistics and accounts
Fairly self-explantory. Stats might be about incoming cohorts so academic profile of new entrants, nationality breakdown of recent cohorts etc. Some internal, some for external regulation

Maintaining and cultivating the flow of information and cooperation with various interfaces
and what does this actually mean?
Making sure any departmental databases or CRMs etc are linking in correctly to the SRS I would guess. Possibly with other external bodies like UCAS but this would usually be handled by a central admissions team.

Thank you @Dappled,that's really helpful. I copy pasted the entire job description! Do you enjoy the work? Do you have lots of contact with students or is it very much behind the scenes?
