Fasting gallbladder ultrasound - is any water allowed?

it's at 2 and I've been fasting since 8 but it says no food or drink - I've had to have some sips to take pills but I really panic if I can't swallow and the thought of this is triggering me (I know it's silly!)

Does anyone know if small sips of water will bu**er me up?

I would just make sure you have no not water and also don't tell them you took some of they may not scan you

Sorry - they said a small amount for taking meds was OK if needed BUT it's just so hot I'm struggling

Unfortunate to be fasting in this weather but it'll be over soon OP. I'd just distract yourself and keep cool with a cold shower or an ice pack around the neck etc. Get yourself something with electrolytes in to drink as soon as you're done to rehydrate. The ultrasound won't take long at all and you'll be out, they're pretty quick.

Hi OP, I drank a little bit of water and it was fine just don’t overdo it (hard in this heat!) agree with the others to distract yourself for a couple of hours. Perhaps take a big bottle of water with you to drink after. All the best for your scan x

Funnily enough I have one booked for 3pm and have been told I can drink water, so I am sure a few sips is fine.

GayPareeee · 16/06/2023 11:39

Thanks - I think just knowing I could have a sip or two will conversely make me less likely to actually have any.

Water is fine

UndercoverCop · 16/06/2023 11:44

I had one recently and was told water was fine but nothing else

Just sip enough to stop the dry mouth not huge volumes.
Stop at midday
