Sheffield People - help please

I have a day to myself in Sheffield next Saturday 24th

I've never been. Please can you offer me any top tips, hidden gems and a good all day car park near the city centre, preferably near the Cathedral .

I've heard good things about the Moor Market, I don't fancy Meadowhall.
I'd also quite like to see the American Airforce memorial that Dan Walker publicised.

To be honest, Sheffield town centre is not the nicest of places. Many shops have moved out to Meadowhall. The Moor is probably the best place to go for shopping or you can wander a bit further up Ecclesall and Sharrowvale Road for nice coffee shops and independent shops. The botanical gardens is also nice to wander around. This is just off Ecclesall road.

Oh that's sad, I thought with it being a city it would be a bit more lively.
Any museums about?

The airforce thing is in Endcliffe park. The whole area around there is lovely and lots to explore, Eccelsall Road and Sharrow.

You can walk through the park and go through the Porter Valley which is lovely.

The town centre is pretty rubbish. Better shops on Eccy Road and Sharrow.

If you want a mooch through the centre before heading to Endcliffe Park (very easy on a bus), you could walk from the station up to the Winter Gardens past The Crucible and then through the Peace Gardens. But I agree the centre isn’t amazing - and it’s also quite small. Endcliffe Park and Ecvlesall Road are lovely, though.

Museum is in Weston Park. It’s nice and has a lovely coffee shop ( expensive tho)
