Hi mums/parents,

I have a 21mos old daughter, she speaks but not words, she speaks but not understandable is it also considered speaking? I already talk to her pedia but the doctor said there’s nothing to worry about, that she is still young.

-she said “daddy” at 7mos old but now seldom
-stands at 6mos and walks at 13mos
-she has good eye contact
-looks when you call her name though it will take time especially when she is playing
-smiles, clapping, mimics what she sees,
-good at puzzle toys

Concerns:

• she doesn’t play with other toddlers
• she bites, scratches other toddlers recently
• she doesn’t share her toys
• she doesn’t speak words
• shows no interest when teaching body parts, ABC’s she will just look at me and laugh

Her friend same with her age can now speak clearly, I know every child hits their milestone at their own time but should I be worried or I am just pressured seeing my friend’s child talk?

My son was almost 3 before he could talk. I was friends with a women with the same age baby. Hers had been talking in full sentences from about 11 months. But. Her daughter was only just walking at almost 2, whereas my son had benn walking and jumping and bounding around from much earlier. Now? They run round together all of the time chatting non stop!

Children don’t play with each other until the age of 3, and it’s only at age 2 they start to play near each other (but not together).

They also cannot understand the concept of sharing until age 4 minimum.

Your expectations are too high and not appropriate for her age.

I wouldn't worry at all my 4 year old has only been talk since starting nursery at 3 and now she don't stop she was an early walker and she's only just stared to share her toys with her baby brother and she never liked playing with anyone else at a young age only started again wen she went nursery
