I'll start.
Splatter cover in the microwave, so all I have to do is pop it in the dishwasher.

As soon as I wake up, I chug some water.

If a job will take less than 5 minutes do it there and then .

I really need to adopt this. Just sat downstairs for hours as I couldn’t be arsed to hand wash a small item that needed doing before I went to bed. Took five minutes and now I’m in bed. Would’ve been snoring by now 🙄

TomatoSandwiches
I have a few shower gems in the bathroom, one shelf is for a Scrub daddy wand filled with half fairy liquid half white vinegar, I can just give the tiles and screen a quick Scrub and rinse when I have time.
I also have a flash mop holder on the door and wipes in a draw so I don't have to keep going up and down stairs to hunt for cleaning supplies/equipment when I remember.

oh my god I love this, thank you!!
Also forgot, my sister takes out a book /mag/newspaper every time she feels like going on social media at night time. (I wish I was strong enough to do this but it’s a goal!!)

LaviniasBigBloomers · 16/06/2023 10:16

Loading the washing machine the night before and putting it on a timer, so the washing is done for me getting up. Then I can put it straight outside or on the heated airer which then heats my office when I'm working.

I live in Scotland so drying washing is always a nightmare, previously I was prone to leaving things in overnight, missing a good drying day because my washer takes 3 hours on the eco-cycle, or just always moving laundry around. Now it's dealt with before breakfast.

Cocteautriplet · 16/06/2023 14:31

If my 3year old needs distracting when I’m doing a tidy up I’ll get her to hide something in the room I’m working in then try to find it. While I’m searching I’ll pick up rubbish /mugs and toys etc as I go so I get things done and she is happily occupied giving me clues!

Theonlythingthatmakessense · 16/06/2023 14:40

Declutter! The less stuff you have, the less mess to tidy up. Really works. Guaranteed most people have a ton of stuff that they don’t use/doesn’t fit etc. The initial decluttering is time consuming but it saves time/money etc in the long run.

I don't actually have many handbags, I use about four on rotation. But in every handbag is a pair of sunglasses, packet of tissues, tinted lip balm, small tube of hand cream and paracetamol.

Turfwars · 16/06/2023 16:31

Clean as you go - so wipe up crumbs and put bread board in the dishwasher before you sit down with a sandwich /put shoes on the shoe rack as you take them off.
Anything on the stairs gets carried up if you are going up. /ditto on the way down.
Lay out clothes and bags the night before.
Do lunches the night before.
Never leave a room empty handed.
Everyone pitching in on a weekend clean up.
I squirt limescale remover all over the shower the night before, then while it's warming up for my shower in the morning I rinse it all down - saving time and water!

Upstairs hall cupboard has a hoover, duster, disinfectant, windolene, furniture polish etc and cloths so I don't have to go downstairs to get what I need to clean the bathroom mirror.

Make your bedroom as much of a clutter free cosy sanctury as possible. I use the top drawer of my dresser for makeup and hair clutter so there's nothing on the top, save a few fancy scent bottles and my hairbrush. Nightstand is similar. My wardrobe is a walk in so just shut the door on it and apart from my clothes for the next day laid out, and invested in lovely bedding. It's like something off pinterest and I feel like I'm staying in a luxury hotel going to bed!

Oldraver · 16/06/2023 18:14

Hang washing (dresses t-shirts) on hangers then put outside, in summer

Take them straight out the dryer and put on hangers. I bought a collapsible door hanger for the utility for this

Tadashi · 16/06/2023 18:17

Doing exercise. I'm no athlete and am usually the worst person in my gym classes, but it makes me so much happier.

The warm weather is making me much happier too.

Agree with the pp who said blocking people on sm 😬. Also not spending too much time on MN and not taking seriously anything anyone gets into a bunfight about on here

Please share the name of the app!

It's called 'yoga for weight loss' which makes it sound a bit naff but it's really good!

charabang · 18/06/2023 23:06

Always have postage stamps in your purse. Put clothes out the night before. Use TV time to do a 'sitty down' job like pairing the odd sock basket, cleaning out your makeup bag or going through old paperwork.

An airfryer, so useful and a robot vac, cos I hate hoovering! Also hang clothes on coat hangers when I take them out of the machine so won't need ironing ( hate that too!)😂

Caterpillor · 19/06/2023 06:54

@BerfyTigot how did you quit caffeine/dc? I've been hooked for years, need DC to function several times a day...

SaveMeFromForearms · 15/06/2023 19:35

Lose weight if you need to. It's made dressing so much easier, now I put on whatever I want without having to dress to hide bits of me. And shopping is super fast and easy now I know that pretty much anything in my new size will fit.

So many years of my life wasted!

Of all the reasons to lose weight, this is actually one of the most compelling. So relatable. Thank you Smile

BerfyTigot · 19/06/2023 07:13

@Caterpillor I wish I could give you some useful advice but unfortunately I was very ill for about a year and went off the flavour of it completely. I've been very careful not to "get the taste again", although even a couple of years later the thought often pops into my head that I'd like one.

It really controlled me though- I was constantly getting rid of empties, concealing how much I was drinking from family. Even the shopping delivery driver noticed that I always had a can in my hand! I'm ashamed to admit that I would sometimes drink 4 litres a day.

I have several friends who have had some success with changing brand to one they like a bit less and then cutting down - eg to Tesco own brand

Another who changed to caffeine free gradually and no longer got the caffeine hit so stopped drinking it.
And one friend who just stopped completely and dealt with the caffeine cravings after a GP told her how bad it is.

Good luck, it's really hard to stop

coodawoodashooda · 19/06/2023 07:15

Zero alcohol and daily stretching

Hoaryragwort · 19/06/2023 07:15

Get up an hour earlier and go to bed an hour earlier too!

thatganisette · 19/06/2023 10:30

I audited my freezer yesterday and made a list of what is in each drawer and the quantity. The top drawer is dedicated to the odds and sods so we'll be having a few pot luck dinners this week

A can of what? I’m confused. Do you mean coffee or alcohol?

WeWereInParis · 19/06/2023 12:01

@Wherestheheatwave I assume she means coke

BerfyTigot · 19/06/2023 12:13

@Wherestheheatwave @WeWereInParis yes I meant the diet coke!

GoldSilverBronzeTan · 19/06/2023 12:29

An upstairs vacuum and downstairs vacuum. the same model so they use the same attachments and battery.

Cleaning products in each bathroom.

Swapped to the butchers for meat. Eat less because it costs more but it’s lovely quality.

medicallycomplicated · 19/06/2023 14:45

Drinking more water.
Eating more 'clean' foods.
Keeping my car clean.
Using my Sundays as my 'get my shit together for the week' days so Monday blues aren't as bad.
On the rare occasion I drink, I have a pint of cold water in between.

I think this too.
