How the hell do you get in touch with DPD?

No option on email, web or through the app to make a proper complaint.

I had a half arsed conversation with a call centre person about a damaged parcel left yesterday, which she just kept saying she was sorry about and told me to get in touch with the supplier.

It was fresh cat food, left out in full sun in an alley at the top of my house yesterday lunchtime. I won't be home to retrieve it until after 8.30 tonight and it is now inedible.

I am so frustrated.

Yesterday lunchtime? Why on earth would you order fresh cat food to arrive at a time you'd not be able to look after it?

The damage and placement is secondary, there's no way any delivery firm would be able to keep that food good for the duration.

If you mean 'sealed in packets that burst' rather than 'raw animal bits' - any good postal pet food service will compensate you for the damaged items and take it up with the delivery firm on a larger basis. ZooPlus as an example have clearly done this: they've upgraded the packaging and changed delivery firm, and now we never get damaged packets.

It comes at that time every single month. It is always packed in ice and then in insulated material, and kept in the shade so it is fine by the time I get home. The ice is still frozen. On this occasion, it wasn't because the driver left it somewhere I couldn't even see it, in full sun, so that I thought it hadn't been delivered at all.

That's good to know about Zooplus, they have always been good. I had a damaged box from them, and they gave me a fiver off the next order.

Didn't you get a delivery confirmation email or check online/ the app? DPD are great for us and I registered on the app so I get push notifications to my phone. This includes the 1hour slot with live tracking available, "30 mins away", "You're Next", and "Delivered" with a photo.

I get frozen dog food delivered and never have a problem. If you weren't in for delivery, the supplier probably instructs them to deliver that day in any case due to the nature of the fresh food. So they couldn't have taken back to depot. Where should they have delivered to instead? (You can set safe locations and I think preferred neighbours on your account too.)

Best of luck. I had a rant on here the other day about DPD. They used to be so reliable, but now it's DPD ' local' they are mostly lying incompetent shits!
I lost two days pay waiting for items. Day 1 they said they had missed me ( with a fake photo) when the DPD van hadnt been within miles of my house according to tracking: next day.. Paid again for early morning delivery.. And mysteriously 10 mins before due, they were ' delayed'. I finally got my item in the evening when I physically stood in the road to prevent the van moving off when the guy was photographing my door from his van window!

Contacting a human is nigh on impossible.

I've just left a stinking review on Trust pilot to make myself feel better!

Your contract isn't with DPD so she's right that they can't help you. You need to speak to the company you ordered from, and they can then deal with DPD.

My dogs insulin comes from animed and delivered by dpd, they won't deliver if not in because it's refrigerated.

I got a text telling me that Gary would deliver my Katkin parcel at a specific time and that I had options if I wasn't going to be in. I'm never in, so it is always left either at the front of the house under the porch, or at the back of the house. However, Gary decided to leave it in the alley BEHIND my house that I found out over 24 hours later when I contacted them as I thought it hadn't been delivered at all.

I was sent an email that I found later with a link, showing me a photograph of where it had been left. I couldn't get to this link on my phone or tablet (I think there must have been a broad band issue at home). There was also a card pushed through the letterbox saying it was left in the backyard but when I went out I couldn't see it. I managed to click the link on my work computer which showed me the photograph. It was in the alley, that I would not have thought to check, and which I couldn't see from my window either.

I've downloaded the app and set location as backyard under patio table or my neighbour.

Update - Katkin have been in touch, said they will deal with DPD and send me a new box of food.

That's great!

Glittertwins · 16/06/2023 16:59

Just seen your update - I worked out it was Katkin as we also have it via DPD. We had a problem where DPD sent it all back as they totally damaged it. Didn't tell Katkin, we just got the refusal on the app but Katkin were very quick to send out the replacement immediately
