I've also recently acquired the fire escape ladder for teen dd in the attic bedroom...
Being a Scout Leader and also daughter of an engineer in charge of an oil refinery, safety and preparedness is out general mindset here. So I have the kitchen fire extinguisher and fire blanket (hopefully most likely use is when I've been having fun in the garden with the log burner - see Scout Leader tendencies...). The toolkit and can of foam kept in the car boot (actually, knowing where there's a can of WD40 to easily grab, and a pair of work gloves, have both been unexpectedly useful quite a few times!). My gas camping stove has been useful when a power cut happened and I could give a flask of hot water to elderly neighbour. Well stocked medical kit and first aid training is mostly used for splinters and lots of Cubs cutting fingers with Swiss Army knives...
But actually, like a few others, the life insurance and death in service benefits - stuff can be replaced, people can't.
