Ocado/M&S quality gone downhill since signing up

I found something I couldn't get elsewhere on Ocado and discovered there was a 3 month free delivery offer so used it for the weekly shop.

I was getting decent quality stuff, firm tomatoes and cucumbers, avocados that weren't bruised and squashy and free gifts so signed up for a year of deliveries. Not so bothered about the gifts but it was nice.

Lo and behold it all went wrong and every week I get something substandard, tiny lettuces, half the size, watery cucumbers, soft, manky tomatoes, and today a leaking bottle of milk, in the bag with the most items in so have needed to wash it all. Bottles often arrive battered, didn't before. This was in addition to 3 out of 9 tomatoes being inedible, and 1 out of 4 avocados being squishy.
Only free gifts I was offered have been a magazine which I don't want.

I feel as if because I chose deliveries for midweek tariff which is cheaper and am hooked into paying for a year, they think 'Ahhh, trapped, we won't bother now'. Plus the number of refunds I am requesting for dodgy stuff makes me look like a problem customer but I am getting stuff I wouldn't buy in a shop.

I only had the midweek deliveries for the 3 month trial, by choice as it suited best. Wonder if they know I hate M&S food, which seems to be worse quality than Ocado branded.

I've had lots of problems over the last year - meat and fish going off before the use by date, stuff missing, lots of things with only 3 days til use by - which is useless for a weekly shop. Today an item I was waiting for to finish dinner was missing, and a f*cking fly flew out of the baby gem lettuce bag 🤮. Pretty much about to switch to Tesco.

I never order fruit, veg or meat/fish from them. Maybe smoked salmon/trout but that's it.

I just think it never is as good as when I pick myself. They are ok with refunds but what is the point.

I order every now and then to fill up my larder and cleaning materials but otherwise I stick to go to the shops myself.

I don't think they're anywhere near as good as they were when they were linked to Waitrose.

They're usually on time these days, which is a major plus point.

But I've had at least 4 things I used to buy regularly delisted. Plus there often isn't a budget version of some stuff when there used to be (either gone or endlessly out of stock).

Short dates really annoy me (I shop weekly) and I've had a couple of things go over recently before their date. They've never quibbled a refund request, which is good (but of course I'd rather there hadn't been an issue in the first place)

I've had neither magazine nor any freebies for ages

Oh yes - no gifts for ages either! Trouble is I work full time and the thought of having to spend half of Saturday or Sunday in a supermarket fills me with despair!
