Do you wear a tracksuit on a plane?

blueby7 · 12/06/2023 19:31

Or do you have a specific plane outfit?
I never used to really and would fly in whatever clothes I was wearing that day, (jeans and a jumper usually).
I've noticed people seem to have specific outfits to fly now, a posh tracksuit (if one exists)!?
I (snobbishly) see tracksuits as a bit chavvy but also now want to get one for flying!

I wear the bulkiest outfit that I plan to take with me.

DanceMonster · 12/06/2023 19:34

How often do you fly that it would be worth buying a specific outfit just for the plane??
I wear something comfy, but not a tracksuit. I wore a loose jersey maxi dress last week then I flew.

helpfulperson · 12/06/2023 19:37

I wear an outfit that I could wear for the first couple of days if my luggage doesn't arrive.

I dress normally. This usually means fairly comfortably/casually.

I wouldn't wear a tracksuit out and about, so I don't end up wearing it on a plane.

HeddaGarbled · 12/06/2023 19:37

I don’t wear a tracksuit (don’t own one) but neither do I wear jeans. I definitely lean to comfort over style for travel of any length.

SideWonder · 12/06/2023 19:38

posh tracksuit

Contradiction in terms.

MouseKeys · 12/06/2023 19:41

I've never owned a track suit before but I was given a smart black one for my birthday this year and then wore it on a recent 6 hour flight. Wow, it was so comfy and cosy on the plane, I will definitely be wearing it again next time I fly!

NeverThatSerious · 12/06/2023 19:41

No, honestly I wouldn’t opt to wear a tracksuit at all, let alone in public. I tend to go for the more comfortable options of my normal clothes, if that makes sense. Generally a loose fitting midi dress or similar.

goojit · 12/06/2023 19:42

I do! In fact this is pretty much the only time I'd wear a tracksuit in public. Only long haul though. Short haul I'd wear my normal clothes.

Chewbecca · 12/06/2023 19:46

Long haul I do wear joggers which I would never normally wear outside the house. With a vest top under (no bra) and a sweatshirt. All very soft. Short haul I just wear whatever I normally would, jeans or shorts and t shirt usually, depending on weather.

blueby7 · 12/06/2023 19:49

Yes it's long haul. I wouldn't usually wear one as mentioned by others but the more I see them the more I want one. Although I see more people in their teens and 20's wearing them. I am mid 30's.

@MouseKeys would you mind sharing the brand? It sounds lovely and comfy

@Chewbecca (as an aside, probably my favourite username I've seen on here 🤣)

I am SO sick of wearing bras in general so think I'll do the same! Or a comfy sports bra.

Not a tracksuit, but something comfortable and practical. I definitely wouldn't wear jeans as I wouldn't be able to sleep in them or feel comfortable sat down for a long period. Usually I wear comfy trousers with some stretch, a t shirt and a cardigan or zip up jacket so I've got layers if I get too hot/cold.

FatCatBum · 12/06/2023 19:52

I wear something comfortable, I couldn't give a fuck what I look like

UnravellingTheWorld · 12/06/2023 20:00

I think people tend to wear tracksuits because they don't need a belt with it ie something to be removed during security

headcheffer · 12/06/2023 20:10

I wear leggings, a soft t shirt and a hoody to fly. Usually all black. I find I swell on the plane and I'm always hot.

GCalltheway · 12/06/2023 20:12

I would not be seen dead in a tracksuit!! And I seriously judge the mostly British travellers that do - it’s embarrassing how scruffy and unkept they look. I can’t move past the stereo types as much as I try. For a country once known to be the most civilised in the world our standards have dropped off a cliff.

Don't your legs get freezing cold?

HermioneWeasley · 12/06/2023 20:29

Yes, jogging bottoms, soft crop top instead of a bra and then layers - vest top or t shirt, long sleeved top and a hoodie or denim jacket, plus usually a big scarf. Don’t care how I look or if people are judging.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 12/06/2023 20:30

I wear comfy clothes, elasticated waist trousers and a sweatshirt. I don't give it as much thought on short flights but I really need to be comfortable on long haul especially if it's a night flight.

olympicsrock · 12/06/2023 20:31

Yoga trousers, layers and a pashmina/ large soft wrap. Takes up no space but is really warm to block out the draft from air con.

DuesToTheDirt · 12/06/2023 21:33

"a specific plane outfit"? That made me laugh!

I don't even own a tracksuit. I just pick something comfortable and of suitable warmth/coolness from whatever I want to take on holiday, and preferably something I'm not planning to wear on the first holiday day. Isn't that what most people do?

MagicMatilda · 12/06/2023 21:36

For a long haul flight I would wear a “smart” version of a tracksuit. I tend to keep the top half smarter and nice trainers so it dresses it up a bit.

xogossipgirlxo · 12/06/2023 21:38

No, but I try to wear baggy clothes like joggers and sweatshirt. Nothing with buttons, zips or anything skinny style.

xyz111 · 12/06/2023 21:40

I'm normally in leggings, t shirt and hoody. The most comfiest thing!
